Orono Fiddle Club provides entertainment at Community Hall. Un Monday, members of the Sunshine Sunshine Unit of the UCW enjoyed their June outing at Troutwater Park near Manila. Ann and Dave Cox have purchased purchased this property and Ann, who was Sunshine leader, graciously invited invited members for pot-luck supper in the pavilion there. President Carole Noble presented Ann with a gift in appreciation of her work in Newcastle Newcastle United Church. Condolences also to friends and family of Ann Cryderman Smith who passed away last week. Ann was the only daughter of Lawrence and Alba Cryderman (Colwill). Between games the thirsty players each received a glass of juice. Next outing is the seniors' trip to Woodbine on June 30 and on August 4th a trip to Orillia. Seats are still available for both. Father's Day visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Powell were Wayne, Beth and Alyssa Markle, Scarborough, Scarborough, Dale Hunt and boys, Pontypool, Pontypool, Judy Powell, Bowmanville, and Lynn Pigott, Oshawa. Mr. Harry Wade spent Sunday through Friday last week at the Royal York Hotel attending Grand Lodge. Mr. Albert Pearce spent Friday and Saturday in Brampton where grandson Jeff was playing ball. He was Friday overnight guest of John and Marilyn Speers, Caledon. Larry and Jeff drove up Friday and on Saturday Saturday both Larry and Barb cheered on son Jeff. On Sunday Mr. Albert Pearce visited visited Kim, Wayne and Vicki Pearce, Bethany. Sympathy is extended to family and friends of Morley Flintoff who passed away last week. On Tuesday Mrs. Pauline Storks, Chairman of Nepean Utility and Secretary, Secretary, representatives from Lindsay met in Whitby to plan the annual meeting for the District. On Wednesday Pauline attended a Customer and Energy Services meeting meeting in Belleville and a District 1 meeting in Kingston on Saturday. On Sunday, Father's Day, Ron and Marg Burley entertained all their family, Bruce and boys, Bob and Anita and children, Oshawa. Mrs. Mildred Pye-Finch spent Thursday with her mother, Mrs. Gladys Gladys Wood. On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Powell, Gary and Jennifer Hopkins enjoyed visiting Mr. and Mrs. Martin Dey, Adrienne and Brandon at their Lake Seymour cottage. Father's Day brunch was enjoyed by the Russell Powell family at their home. Saturday evening visitors with Mrs. Kay Kimball were Bob and Lois Morton, Orono. For Father's Day Sunday, the Brenton Rickards entertained George, Lana and Michael Rickard, Douglas and sons Keegan and Joel, Wendy, Whitney and Rudy Rickard. Mr. and Mrs. Talbot Alldred celebrated celebrated Father's Day and also Alf and Lynn's 25th wedding anniversary on Sunday when all the family was present for dinner. In Mr. Hartley's absence absence Lay Reader, Oakley Peters conducted the Service of Morning Prayer and preached a sermon lesson which he entitled 'Childlike or Childish'. Childish'. This week the congregation mourns the death of Lawrence Gaines who for many years along with his wife, Grace, was an active Boater Susan Lovekin gets a helping hand from Bowmanville Boat Works owner Michael Schuster during a flare demonstration last Saturday evening at the Port of Newcastle. The Oshawa Power and Sail Squadron hosted the event to show the importance of replacing replacing out-dated emergency flares on-board with new ones. Many who attended set off their old flares at the beach, making for quite a show. and valued member of St. George's.
