Lindsay Walter will be competing competing in the pageant on August 6 and 7 at the Ryerson Polytechnical Institute Institute theatre. Lindsay was a competitor at the age of five in the Hemisphere Pageant. Pageant. Nursery School Opens in October A local woman who has spent nine years in the child care field, is getting ready to start her own nursery nursery school in Bowmanville. The name of the venture: Pine Ridge Nursery School. Tracy Leech-Marks has set the wheels in motion to have a four-day nursery school program at St. Paul's United Church beginning in October 1994. "It would be in the morning and afternoon," she told The Statesman recently. The nursery school program will runs in the morning from 8:45 to 11:15 and in the afternoon from 12:45 to 3:15. - Leech-Marks is looking to have 16 children in the morning and the same number in the afternoon. There will be one other teacher besides herself, so there will be a teacher student ratio of 1:8. "In many nursery school programs programs the student to teacher ratio is higher," Leech-Marks said. Dahlia Campbell Recently earned a Doctoral Degree Degree in Health Services from Walden University, Minneapolis. The Convocation Convocation was held at the Indiana University, University, Bloomington, on July 9, 1994. Her Faculty Adviser was Professor Professor H.S. Coblentz, University of Waterloo. Her Dissertation: Health beliefs, health behaviours and quality of life of rural elderly females was nominated and selected for the outstanding outstanding dissertation of the academic year, 1993-1994. She received the Dissertation Award and a $500.00 honorarium. Dr. Dahlia Campbell has been on staff at Oshawa General Hospital for over two decades in various capacities. capacities. Despite her full schedule, Dahlia is Vice President of the Brain Injury Association of Durham Region and Coordinator of the'support groups for the brain injury survivors and their caregivers. She recruits and trains volunteers, arranges for speakers and has given presentations relating to brain injury. Among her other activities, Dahlia is on the Board of Directors of the Victorian Order of Nurses, Oshawa Branch and has devoted many hours to the Friendly Visitor Program. She was recently awarded a certificate for ten years of service with the VON. Dahlia is a valuable member of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario and is currently First Vice President of the Durham Northumberland Northumberland Chapter. Dr. Campbell plans to pursue future research studies in Gerontology.
