Visiting Parry Sound for game one of their best-of-three series, Kendal prevailed with a convincing 12-6 victory. They are now in a strong position to take the series, as the next two games are in Kendal at Harvey Jackson Memorial Park. Game two of the series will be played on Sunday afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m. Should Kendal lose, game three will be played immediately afterwards. The winner of the series will advance to Tottenham, to face the best 'D' classification teams in Ontario. ■••■■■■■■•■a VOLLEYBALL GOLD -- Four of Clarke High School's top female volleyball players were members of the gold medal winning team at the Ontario Summer.Games that were held in Nepean (near Ottawa) this past weekend. Caroline Fletcher, Kate McKelvie, Jill Rypstra, and Joanna Van Dyke helped the Region 4 team to victory in the final match. One of the three coaches of the team, Krysta Rudman, is a former graduate of Clarke. Our congratulations to all. ••■••■■■■•a* PRESS CONFERENCE CALLED -- The Bowmanvillc Eagles have called a press conference for Thursday afternoon, at which time they are expected to announce the captains and alternates, as well as the two overage players that will be signed for the upcoming year. Curtis Hodgins is one of the overagers, but who the other one will be remains a mystery. Everything is starting to fall into place for the two-time defending Jr. C Central League champions as training camp approaches. Coach Mark Watson and his staff from a year ago are all returning, and manager Mike Laing has a couple of quality hockey players with OHL experience who have expressed an interest in playing for Bowmanville. The only thing the team needs is someone to assist Rick Clark with the duties-of equipment manager. Anyone interested in the position can call Curt. Trimble at 623-6503. BOWLERS NEEDED -- There are still some openings left for those interested in playing in the Thursday night ladies' league at Liberty Bowl. Games begin each week at 6:45 p.m., with good fun and lots of laughs guaranteed. Those wishing to secure one of the few remaining spots are asked to contact Sandra at 623-2489. EVERYBODY'S OUT -- Clarington baseball teams didn't have much success when playoff time rolled around this year. While taking in the junior game on Sunday afternoon, we learned that all of the Clarington rep ball teams have been eliminated from OBA playoffs. We aren't sure of the details for the younger teams, but we do know that the senior Falcons exited from the playoffs on Friday night, while the juniors were beat out on Sunday afternoon. In both cases, Little Britain were the spoilers. There's always next year. 328 RITSON RD.
