After a one-year absence, the run has been re-established, thanks to the efforts of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority who have volunteered to be sponsors. The fund-raiser for cancer research takes place on September 18th, with the start and finish line at Bowmanville's Memorial Park. The course is 10 kilometres. Of course, you don't have to run that distance. You can walk, cycle, roller-blade or use some other mode of transportation. The important thing is to raise funds for the Cancer Society. Terry Fox runs- across Canada and in a number of other countries have raised $135 million. The shirts are a joint project by the Bowmanville Museum, Clarke Museum and Archives and the Visual Arts Centre. They are designed to raise awareness of these three main cultural facilities in Clarington. The Visual Arts Centre in Soper Creek Park, Bowmanville, is housed in the former Cream of Barley Mill.
