4 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanvillc. Wednesday, August24.1994 Hockey Cards Up for Grabs at Legion The Sports Card Auction and Show at the Legion Hall on Sunday attracted a good crowd of collectors. Subjects included more than just famous sports figures. There were also cards featuring comic superheroes, superheroes, fantasy art, and television series characters. B and B Sports Cards hosted the event. Look for another auction next month. In Editor's Mail Dear Sir: I cannot believe the Taxpayer of the Municipality of Clarington would allow the municipality to spend $750,000 on the old Fire Hall, to renovate renovate it, for a Senior Centre when this Fire Hall is a temporary measure until the seniors get a Centre of their own in the future. The proposed Wellington Group has indicated they would be willing to include a Public Library, Community Community Centre and Senior Centre as well as a proposed Long Term Care System System being introduced this year by the government. The town thinks, or hopes, something something better will come along which is, in my opinion, a fantasy. For myself, I would welcome a wonderful Seniors Centre which would be available to all seniors. Why not take advantage of the opportunity opportunity presented to the town by the Wellington Group and make better better use of the $750,000 and use the Lions Centre until the Wellington is built, which hopefully will begin in the Spring or Summer of 1995. Because there are so many seniors in the area and growing, it would seem to be a wonderful opportunity for the municipality to plan and work together jointly with the architects involved involved in this project.
