Miss Nicks is shown above with her ribbons, trophy and cup, and also' in an action jumping picture. She won the Red Memorial Trophy and cup for first prize in the Class B Working Hunter class (ages of rider 11 to 14 years). Competing in the Open Working Hunter Class (open to all ages) she took the second prize ribbon. There were 12 obstacles 3'6" high in this competition. She took third prize in the Open Jumper Stake,- going over 12 obstacles 4' high. Miss Nicks and her 'cowboy' father also entered the Family Fun class where they won the second prize ribbon. If the weather is favorable, this weekend at Mosport should be one of the big ones of the year for the Player's Grand Prix of Canada. Practice runs will be held on Thursday, with qualifying trials for the Formula One cars on Friday and the big race on Saturday afternoon. Advance tickets for the event are being sold in Bowmanville by Frank's and Bryson's Variety stores. At the gate, the price is $4.00 on Friday and $8.00 on Saturday. Fans will save a dollar each day by purchasing tickets here rather than when they arrive at . the track. . Preliminary races will take place, starting at 9:30 on Saturday morning and the main event will get underway between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. Further details of the race and drivers are published under Sportop- ics on page nine of this edition. He told council that a guitar worth $200 had been left there and had been stolen. "Do they have to have their amplifiers amplifiers turned so high There (TURN TO PAGE TWO) Car Demolishes Verandah on Liberty South Mr. and Mrs, Robert Lockhart, Liberty St. South, were awakened with a jolt early Sunday morning and their son John, watching television, also had quite a shock when their cement block verandah collapsed after being hit by a car, Gary Woolncr, 23, of (15 Hunt St. was driving cast on Ontario St. and failed to make the turn onto Liberty Si. S. The vehicle jumped the curb, crossed lawns, leaped a hedge and went smack into the Lockhart verandah that fell on top of it, doing considerable damage, Woolncr managed to escape from the debris and was taken tn Memorial Hospital by ambulance for treatment of a lacerated finger and eyebrow. eyebrow.
