Once more our community has slipped back into its normal peace and tranquility following the past hectic week of unrivalled activity, with the influx of strangers. We understand understand that following this local invasion, invasion, that they have transferred some of the action to a street in Lindsay. Lindsay. Several other events have since provided a modicum of local interest as well. On Friday evening Walter and Audrey Wright of Blackstock were honoured by their immediate family with dinner out at the Cadmus Country Country Restaurant on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. We shall not encroach on the Blackstock correspondents territory, only to say that Walter and Audrey's four daughters daughters and their spouses (where applicable) applicable) were present for the auspicious occasion. Also present were Walter's sister, Hazel, and brothers Keith and Lloyd Wright and families and Audrey's Audrey's brother Floyd Stinson, from Yelverton. Following the dinner a few close friends and neighbours dropped in at their residence to offer congratulations. congratulations. Since we attended Yelverton Public and Blackstock High School in the same grade with Walter we were pleased to drop in to renew old acquaintances. Local members of the Wilson family Ann and Hally Hurrin and Norman and Isabel Wilson attended ' the 50th wedding anniversary family gathering and dinner in Lindsay held to honour Jack and Loma Wilson who were also observing their 50th wedding anniversary on the same date. Also we extend, however belatedly, belatedly, our sincere congratulations to brother Vic and his wife Winilda Malcolm of Bowmanville who are observing their 50th wedding anniversary anniversary with an open house at the Lions Lions Centre in Bowmanville on Saturday, Saturday, October 1st. It never rains but it pours. On the same date some of our Malcolm family family members will be motoring to Washington U.S.A. to attend the wedding of Jay Malcolm and Justine Wray. Jay, our nephew, is the only son of Ralph and Ruth Malcolm of Toronto. With all the activities going on, most local residents also found time to attend at least a few hours of Lindsay Lindsay Fair to see or hear their particular preference, be it Ian Tyson or livestock livestock showing or Friday night's Demolition Derby. Not too many made it to the International Plowing Match in Pembroke. Another event of special interest to many of our Yelverton residents was the wedding on Saturday of Joanne Stinson and Mark Roberts of Oshawa. The pretty wedding took place in Blackstock United Church followed by picture taking at the picturesque picturesque country property of Frank and Kathy Milton south east of Cadmus. Cadmus. They were transported from the church eventually to the Nestleton Community Centre for the reception, dinner and dance. Around 150 guests sat down to a sumptuous roast pork dinner served by the ladies of Yelverton United Church under the convenorship of Maureen Moore. Bob Carmichael, uncle of the bride proved to a very effective Master Master of Ceremonies and kept the ball rolling during the speech making. Various toasts to the wedding party were made.
