Teams ranging ranging in age from Sparks to Pathfinders (from the Pineridge Guiding District) painted the curbs beside the drains in Orono Saturday, October 15. There were about 35 participants from Orono, Kirby and Kendal taking part in the project. In this photo are: (back row from left) Ashley Hendry, Ashlynn Ostrander, Katie Katie Dempsey and Holly MacDonald. In the front row are Ashley Caissie and Robyn Henderson, who are painting the fish symbol onto the curb. After the painting was complete, the volunteers left literature at each household in the neighbourhood to draw attention to the project. Water in storm sewers is usually not treated. Therefore, hazardous household products which enter a storni drain flow directly into lakes, streams and rivers.
