Richards A partnership between Bowmanville Bowmanville High School, Bowmanville Senior Senior Public School and local businesses will lead to promoting family activities activities and togetherness. At least that is the hope of Ron Tansley and Bill Todd, of Bowmanville Bowmanville High School's administration and staff. "WeTe hoping the connections family rale to events." The family unit is important to the school, as are the individuals who make up the school's student body. The design of a brochure was done by the graphic arts classes while students students were the ones who targeted businesses to help in the project. Though the Year of The Family began in January, 1994, Todd said the initiative was started in September to will continue to carry over for the rest coincide with the academic year. Other events include: a dance recital, recital, a forum on parenting, a Christmas concert, and entry into the Clarington Youth Committee Essay Contest. "Businesses have made special offers offers so families can get together as families at least one night per week," Todd said. The passport helps "families to get out and do things together." Another activity, which is more individualistic individualistic is an essay contest answering answering the statement: "What family means to me." , Three winners will be selected and will be published in The Canadian Statesman. While the Year of the Family will be winding down over the next two months, Todd said it is hoped that students students from both schools will continue their activities into the new year.
