By Jean Sumersford Guest Speaker at UCW Presbyterial Meeting in October Where In The World Are We? was the theme Dr. Marion Logan used when she spoke at the U.C.W. Presbyterial Meetings, October 4 and 5, 1994. Dr. Logan is from Cambridge, Cambridge, Ontario, she has been a full time homemaker, YWCA executive director, United Church national women's worker and a college teacher, teacher, but she feels her most rewarding work was as an executive member of the World Federation of Methodist Women from 1984-1991. During this time, she edited their newsletter. From that work came contacts with the women of South Africa who invited her to visit them for six weeks and to write an analysis of the obstacles obstacles which were preventing more dialogue dialogue between the racial groups. In 1992 she returned to a very troubled South Africa with a group of 10 women who stayed for one month and she remained for three months. Her international efforts continue on a history project with a recent trip to Europe and trips planned to Africa and Korea. This past May, she was presented with an Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree by Victoria University University for her efforts as a feminist, a lay women and an internationalist whose commitment has been the empowerment empowerment of women. She challenged us to open our eyes and see others but not the colour of their skin. We learned to broaden our care and compassion and to build bridges and take down walls. She said sometimes she wished her eyes hadn't been opened to sec such pain. Plans for the U.C.W.
