In the first period, Checkers opened the scoring with a goal from Phil Hopkins, assisted by Adam Sar- ginson. Checkers' Dcrik Welch gave his team their second goal in the first, assisted by Shawn Watson. Late in the period, Hoopers' Kyle Welch scored, assisted by Bobby Gorman. The second period was very close, with Hooper's tying the score with a goal by Bobby Gorman, assisted assisted by Mike Wood and Jessie Ha- lik. The third period opened up with Hoopers' Donald Allin scoring, assisted assisted by Jason Charbonneau and Bobby Gorman. Hoopers' Dcrik Bradley extended his team's lead, assisted by Kyle Welch. Checkers' Dcrik Welch scored his second goal of the game, assist- ' ed by Adam Sarginson. Hoopers' Jessie Halik scored, regaining his Checkers team's two goal lead, assisted by Mike Wood. Undaunted, the Checkers team intensified their physical play in the final minutes of the game. What resulted resulted was a stunning three-goal rally rally in the last four minutes, with goals by: Adam Sarginson, assisted by Steve Bulterworth; Geoff Neuman, Neuman, assisted by Adam Sarginson; and a game-winning slapshot by Steve Bulterworth, assisted by Adam Sarginson. It was a great comeback effort by the Checkers team. M.J. Hobbs Runner Sets New Record at Harrier Meet 1 The harrier season for senior public schools came to a close recently. These students, representing " M.J. Hobbs Senior Public School, enjoyed strong results from the area championship that was held in ' the Ganaraska Forest. The best result of the meet was turned in by Mark Dieleman, who set a new 1 ; course record for grade seven boys. Knox School Defeats St. Francis 6-1 for CCAA Soccer Title ■ The boys' soccer team at Knox Christian Elementary school recently won the Claringlon Catholic i Athletic Association championship, defeating St. Francis by a score of 6-1 in the finals. The league in- 1 ' eluded four catholic, and two Christian schools from the area. Winning team members from Knox include, include, front row, (1-r), Michael Rekker, Jonathan Helmus, Jason Brinkman, Mark Bcnschop, Joel Bou- ma, Paul VanderSpruit, Dan Spoelstra, Jesse DeJager. Over 200 kids from all over Ontario were entered in the one-day tournament.
