Section Two Charter Night Held for Newcastle Knights of Columbus More than 200 people packed the Orono Community Centre on Saturday evening to celebrate Charter Night for the Knights of Columbus, St. Francis of Assisi, Council 11268. On hand for the historic ceremony ceremony were, from left to right, District Deputy Bill Poechman, State Deputy John Clemens, Grand Knight Tony Malloy, Deputy Grand Knight Ken Boone, and Father Vic Valles. With the addition of the Newcastle K. of C., there are now 11,433 councils worldwide. There are 407 councils in Ontario with more than 53,000 members. Last year, those members contributed more than $7 million and 3.5 million man hours to charity. On Saturday, November 5 th, Sparks, Brownies, Guides and Pathfinders Pathfinders blitzed in the rain, fundraising fundraising for groups. The theme of the sermon was The Glory of God, with special emphasis on the raising of Lazarus from the tomb and our own resurrection from the bondage of sin and self. Newcastle Pentecostal Church Sunday, November 7 dawned showery, but inside we found the blessings of God. Again, Grant McConaghy did a great job on the book of Revelations, Chapter 14. Oh what a terrible time that is to come upon all the earth for those who are not ready to meet the Lord. Sunday evening service we enjoyed enjoyed great singing and worship to the Lord. C. Motorhomes dealership dealership in Newcastle. The property on North Street near Concession #3 and Highway #115 is buzzing with activity these days. Professional tradespeople and volunteers volunteers are busy transforming the aging warehouse-style building into a comfortable comfortable church which will serve the communities of Newcastle and Orono Orono and the surrounding region. The location is highly visible and is perfect for the new church. CROSSROADS CHRISTIAN ASSEMBLY, ASSEMBLY, will have a sanctuary which will accommodate over 200 as well as office space, large nursery, kitchen, fellowship hall and several smaller rooms for its Christian Education Education program. Although the building will reflect a 'heritage' look, it will incorporate many contemporary features such as automated entry doors for the handicapped, handicapped, a vaulted sanctuary ceiling with indirect lighting, and a separate handicapped washroom equipped with hands-free taps. The congregation plans to use the existing remodelled building for up to five years. Their long term goal is to build an entirely new facility on the 4.4 acre site by the year 2000. CROSSROADS CHRISTIAN ASSEMBLY is being established with the support of Liberty Pentecostal Pentecostal Church in Bowmanville. Liberty has experienced rapid growth during the past several years. Its congregation congregation has more than doubled in size. Over 110 people from the Newcastle/ Orono area who have called Liberty their home church, have committed themselves to this new congregation in Newcastle. Both churches are affiliated affiliated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada which numbers almost 1,100 churches across Canada. The P.A.O.C. celebrates its 75th anniversary anniversary this year.
