Regional Council -- Ward Three Bill Clarke One of the issues that concerns me deeply is the lack of activity centres to cater for the explosion of teenage energy energy we can expect in the very near future. There is very little in this ward to encourage creative activity such as I am going to propose. The planners have allowed mega sub-divisions to be built with no social social amenities what so ever . This must not happen again. We must move more of our tax dollars to Ward 3 for the benefit of all ages. If elected I shall advocate the creation creation of a citizens committee to work with the social services to investigate the feasibility of acquiring the "box" factory. It is available and reasonably priced. I foresee activities such as basket ball, floor hockey, gymnasium, senior citizens activity, the arts, baby clinic, etc. An indoor pool could be phased in to accommodate citizens and school children. It would create jobs and employment employment for local labour. I have already received enthusiastic enthusiastic offers to serve on this committee. It may be a dream but I believe in dreams. Currently the GO train reaches Oslutwa for two daily trips, and after Christmas will be going to the Oslutwa Shopping Centre, then the Holiday Inn, and then empty train cars will be moved to the inside edge of Clarington and stored. I feel if the right council is elected, we can work to have additional track added into downtown so can receive service, as well as provide a storage area.
