The event, which features numerous floats, fillers, and a dozen marching bands, begins at 10:30 a.m. After you've enjoyed the parade, don't miss the many other special events planned in conjunction with the launching of the festive season in Bowmanville. And don't forget to visit your favorite stores to get a head start on that Christmas shopping. MUSEUM FRIENDS HOLD CHRISTMAS SALE - The Friends of • The Bowmanville Museum will hold a Christmas Craft and Bake Sale on Saturday, November 19 th. It starts immediately after the Santa Claus Parade and concludes around 1 p.m. Gifts, decorations, baking, coffee, hot chocolate and muffins will be available. The sale is at the St. Paul's Church, located at the comer of Church St. and Silver St., in Bowmanville. COFFEE AND HOT CIDER RAISE FUNDS FOR BETHESDA HOUSE -- This Saturday morning, while you're watching the Santa Claus Parade, why not drop by Tim's Party Centre or the King Street Bar and Grill for some piping hot cider or coffee? Proceeds will go to the Bethesda House Women's Shelter which should be in operation by January. Supplies have been donated by Graham's IGA, Archibald Orchards and the Tyrone Mill. FREE SKATE -- . YULETIDE AT THE MILL - From November 18th to 20th, the Visual Arts Centre in Bowmanville will present Yuletide at the Mill. This is a craft sale, along with plenty of musical entertainment, treats for the children, hot cider, gingerbread, and an opportunity to do some holiday shopping. The Yuletide festivities at the mill coincide with a display of 100 impressive small paintings that are ideal Christmas gifts. UNITED WAY FUND-RAISER - After Saturday's Santa Claus Parade, you're invited to drop by the plaza at the Flying Dutchman Hotel, where the local fast-food outlets are offering special deals on selected items from their menu. MONDAY, NOVEMBER 21 ST EX-BIKER SPEAKS - The Christ Group will present the story of Ace Clarke, a former motorcycle outlaw. He will speak at the Lions Centre in Bowmanville at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 21st. The public is welcome to come and hear his amazing story of how he overcame a life of drugs, alcohol and crime. The topic will be "Communicating the Agricultural Message to Media, Politicians, and the General Public." Making a presentation on this topic is John Clement, a CFFO staff member and agricultural journalist. The meeting begins at eight p.m JUVENILE ARTHRITIS - The Arthritis Society has recently organized a new group called The Juvenile Arthritis Support Group. Meetings are held at the Grandview Rehabilitation and Treatment Centre. DIABETES EDUCATION - The public is invited to attend a Diabetes Education Meeting slated for Wednesday, November 30, at the Bowmanville Lions Centre on Beech Ave. The session begins at 7:30 p.m. Guest speaker Bill Sparling, M.Div., an author and humorist, will discuss the role of humor, laughter and love in mastering stress and diabetes. PET PHOTOS WITH SANTA-- The Oshawa and District Humane Society will be holding their second annual St. Nick Event. In this fund-raiser, everyone is welcome to have their pet's photo taken with Santa Claus. The cost of each polaroid photo is $5, including a frame. Photos will be taken at the Humane Society shelter at 199 Waterloo St., Unit #2, just off Ritson Rd.S., in Oshawa. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This special event takes place December 3,4, 10, and 11. There will also be a bake sale and raffle for lots of great prizes. All pets are welcome. Of course, dogs should be on leashes and cats should be in a carrier. TOYS, GAMES AND PASTIMES - An exhibition of over 50 examples of artifacts relating to playtime and hobbies from 1860 to 1960 is on display at the Clarke Museum and Archives. Dolls, puzzles, building blocks, tin toys, sleighs, wagons, a dog cart, toy kitchens, electric toys, musical instruments and plastic toys are all represented. This feature exhibit will run through the winter months to the end of March, 1995. The Clarke Museum and Archives is located in Kirby, at Regional Rd. 9 and Highway 35/115.
