Dan and Florence Shisko, who run a vegetable farm and store- on the outskirts of Whitby, will discuss "Experiences With Organic Market Gardening." Dan has been experimenting with organic growing techniques, new crops and selling organic products. OPENING NIGHT FOR DRAMA WORKSHOP - The Bowmanville Drama Workshop begins a four-evening production of "The Odd Couple" (the female version). THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 24TH CANVASSING FOR FOOD DRIVE - The Calvinette Girls' Club of the Rehoboth Christian Reformed Church will participate in a local food drive for the Salvation Army Food Bank. All proceeds will be given to the Salvation Army and canvassing will take place between the hours of 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 24. All donations would be gratefully appreciated. FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 25TH PUBLIC FORUM ON NEEDLE EXCHANGE - A public forum will be held Friday, November 25, between noon and one p.m. in the office of Clarington Community Addiction Services. The focus will be the current piloted needle exchange program based in Oshawa and the proposed Region-wide program for injection drug users. The forum will take place at 200 King St. E., suite 206 (second floor). Both of these programs are offered through the Clarington Older Adults' Association. WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 30TH LOCAL HISTORY BOOK LAUNCHED - The launching of "The First 200 Years: A Brief History of Darlington Township," will be held at the Bowmanville Museum on Wednesday, November 30, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Author Sher Lectoozc will be on hand to personally autograph copies. The same evening, the book will be presented to each of the schools located in Darlington Township. Admission to the book-launching is free and refreshments will be served. The 193 page history book covers such topics as early development, sports, schools, churches, military, hotels, and taverns. Every community in the township has been studied and many one-of-a-kind historical photographs have been reproduced. HOSPITAL CALENDAR LOTTERY - As part of its "Together We're Better" campaign, Memorial Hospital Bowmanville has launched its sale of lottery calendars. The calendars cost $20, but they offer 365 chances to win prizes. That means one chance every day. Daily draws begin in January, with prizes ranging from $30 to $800. A total of $15,000 in prize money will be available in 1995. For details on purchasing your calendar, call 623-3331. Dolls, puzzles, building blocks, tin toys, sleighs, wagons, a dog cart, toy kitchens, electric toys, musical instruments and plastic toys arc all represented. Hours arc from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The dance will feature Centre Lane Band and several other local groups. All funds will be donated to Memorial Hospital's equipment campaign in memory of Joseph Glode. STONE FARMHOUSE TOUR - On Saturday, December 10, the Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee will present a yulctidc tour of historic stone farm houses. The tour runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature homes built by the Scottish stone masons who immigrated to Canada and passed through the countryside near Orono in the mid 1800s. They left behind a stunning architectural legacy as you can sec from the tour.
