Under the leadership of Cobourg's Mayor Angus Read, Cindy Symons- Milroy, Director of the Diamond Triangle Triangle Economic Development Com mission and Carol Barren of the Cobourg Cobourg & District Chamber of Commerce, a push is on to capitalize on this recognition, to foster a degree of civic pride for this national accolade accolade among the Cobotirg Business community. All local businesses, industries, and business groups will now be approached approached to use the logo, in the form of a gold seal, on letterhead, business forms, sales literature, prospectuses and more. Realtors and developers will be approached to participate as well. As a recent article in the Toronto Star was headed "Moving to Cobourg area seen as future trend" their full cooperation is expected. The logo is a logical addition to all tourism and business literature representing representing Cobourg. The' Chamber of Commerce and some members are already already signalling their willing participation. participation. A recent brainstorming session produced many other uses for the citation citation logo, everything from mugs, to sweatshirts, to the flower gardens that grace the lakefront park. Other uses could be windshield stickers, postage meters, utility mailings, local business and industry newsletters, wall murals in the downtown core and decals on the doors or windows of all local businesses businesses and retailers. It's not everyday a Canadian community community gets called "architecturally exquisite... exquisite... a well-kept secret," or is praised for doing things in hours that might take days in Toronto. Cobourg plans to take this recognition recognition and turn it into the biggest show of civic pride since the future King Edward VII danced the night away at the newly opened Victoria Hall in September 1860.
