Child care is available. At 6 p.m., there will be a huge auction of merchandise and services donated by several hundred local businesses. The auctioneer is Tymen Van Halteren. All of these events take place at the Knox Christian School on Old Scugog Rd., Bowmanville. SUNDAY, DECEMBER 4TH SWING INTO CHRISTMAS - A 90-minute concert by the Big Wind Stage Band will be held Sunday, December 4th, in Newcastle Village. The concert begins at 2 p.m. Admission is free, but you are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the local food bank. Light refreshments will be served and there will be a draw for a poinsettia. This event is sponsored by the Newcastle and District Chamber of Commerce. BREAKFAST WITH SANTA - On Saturday, December 3rd, you. can enjoy pancakes, fresh cider, hot coffee, wagon rides, teddy bears and a children's play. Santa will also be present for this event which is to take place at Archibald Orchards, 6275 Liberty St N. All donations will be going to the Salvation Army. CHRISTMAS COMES TO HORSE FARM - Trillium Morgan Horse Farm will be holding their 5th annual Christmas festival from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on December 3rd. This is your opportunity to take a magic stroll through the stable, decorated especially for the festive season. All guests are encouraged to judge the creative stall decorating designs. There will be hot cider and candy canes for the children as well as an antique carriage demonstration. Hannibal Kennels will be offering free dog cart rides, courtesy of their giant Newfoundland dogs. EDWARDIAN CHRISTMAS AT MUSEUM - The Bowmanville Museum will hold its annual Christmas Open House on Saturday, December 3rd and Sunday, December 4th, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Museum will be decked out in its seasonal finery and there will be music and refreshments. TUESDAY, DECEMBER 6TH MEETINGS TO DISCUSS BOWMANVILLE MARSH -- The future of the West Side Creek Marsh in Bowmanville will be discussed at a public meeting to take place Tuesday, December 6, from7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Bowmanville Municipal Building. Presentations are expected from St. Marys Cement and also from local community and environmental groups. This program begins at 1 p.m. However, other events also are taking place between 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Cards or other games are offered. And at 10 a.m. there will be a demonstration of table decorations with the assistance of Cockerham Florists. CANDLELIGHT VIGILS - A vigil to commemorate the Montreal Massacre and all other female victims of violence will be held on December 6th, commencing at 7 p.m. at the Visual Arts Centre in Bowmanville. This is the third year that the vigil has been sponsored by FOCUS, a Claringlon women's group. Donations of cash, clothing or canned foods will be collected in support of the Bethesda House women's shelter. The public is welcome. There is also a candlelight vigil at the Oshawa YWCA, 1 McGrigor St., in Oshawa, on the same evening. WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 7TH MARSH MEETINGS CONTINUE - Discussions over the future of Bowmanville's West Side Creek Marsh will continue at a meeting led by David Crombie, Chair of the, Waterfront Regeneration Trust. The meeting will take place Wednesday, December 7th, from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Municipal Administration Centre, Bowmanville. The public is welcome to listen or speak. CHRISTMAS STORY TIME - Celebrate the festive season with stores and songs! MEETING TO DISCUSS WATERSHED PLAN -- The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority is preparing a plan for the Ganaraska River Watershed which will help describe how the environmental features function and /help assist municipalities in wise land use and planning decisions.
