PET PICTURES WITH SANTA - Durham Animal Adoption is inviting Durham Region residents to have their pet's picture taken with Santa. Pet photos will be taken at Pet Valu, in the Whitby Town Square, 3050 Garden St., Whitby. Hours are Wednesday, December 7, from six p.m. to nine p.m. and on Saturday, December 10 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. or Sunday, December 11, from noon to 5 p.m. Please call in advance to reserve your sitting. HOSPITAL CALENDAR LOTTERY - As part of its "Together We're Better" campaign, Memorial Hospital Bowmanville has launched its sale of lottery calendars. The calendars cost $20, but they offer 365 chances to win prizes. That means one chance every day. Daily draws begin in January, with prizes ranging from $30 to $800. A total of $15,000 in prize money will be available in 1995. For details on purchasing your calendar, call 623-3331. Only 3,000 calendars have been printed, which means there are good odds for winning one of the daily cash prizes. Calendars are available at numerous locations, including the hospital gift shop, and a number of local banks and real estate offices. WRAP UP THE YWCA FOR CHRISTMAS - This Christmas, the YWCA has something for everyone on your list. There are programs for preschoolers, adults, and everyone in between. Winter program flyers are available at the YWCA office at 116 Church St., Bowmanville, and winter registration will begin Monday, December 12th, from 10 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you register before December 23, you will recieve an Early Bird Discount of 5%. For more details on registration or programs, call the YWCA at 623-9922.. SANTA AT THE BOWMANVILLE MALL - Santa wiU be available for consultations at the Bowmanville Mall between now and Christmas. Hours are from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday to Friday and Saturday and Sunday from noon to four p.m. Photos are available. SANTA ARRIVES AT CANADIAN TIRE - The Jolly Old Elf himself will be appearing at the Bowmanville Canadian Tire Store on Friday nights from six p.m. to eight p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. He'll be on duty there for the next three weeks. For a donation of $5, kids can have their pictures taken with Santa or a video is available for $6. All proceeds from the photos and videos go to the United Way of Whitby, Oshawa and Clarington. POUCE FOOD AND TOY DRIVE ~ The Durham Regional Police 6th Annual Food and Toy Drive continues until December 16th. Please help support your community by (hopping off an unwrapped toy or non-perishable food item at any police station or fire hall in the Durham Region. You can also call the police Christmas Depot at 427-3697 for pick-up. Members of the Durham Regional Police will deliver the donations to various agencies for distribution in the community. Your assistance will help make Christmas brighter for all the needy families in Durham. PET PHOTOS WITH SANTA - The Oshawa and District Humane Society will be holding their second annual St. Nick Event In this fund-raiser, everyone is welcome to have their pet's photo taken with Santa Claus. The cost of each Polaroid photo is $5, including a frame. Photos will be taken at the Humane Society shelter at 199 Waterloo St., Unit #2, just off Ritson Rd.S., in Oshawa. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This special event takes place December 3,4,10, and 11. There will also be a bake sale and raffle for lots of great prizes. All pets are welcome. Of course, dogs should be on leashes and cats should be in a carrier. ROTARY CHRISTMAS TREES - At last report, there were over 500 trees to choose from at the Rotary Club's Christmas tree lot in Bowmanville. It's located at the Canadian Tire Parking lot. It is open from now until December 24th. Hours are noon to 9 p.m. from Monday to Friday and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Spread a little cheer this year...
