Christmas Band Concert Orono's town hall was filled to capacity capacity Thursday night December 15, with a very appreciative audience of good band music. Clarington Concert Band presented presented their annual musical treat. Entitled Entitled "The Sounds of Christmas" under under the- directorship of leader Barry Hodgins and assistant director Albert Curtis. A special guest, Mr. Clarence Burgess, was welcomed by the crowd, and is a life-time honourary member of Canadian Band Association, Association, and also a member of Canadian Composers Guild.-- Excellent program of Christmas and other kinds of music and the closing was a real crowd pleaser, with a quartette and "Big Band Favorites", Favorites", and "A Christmas Festival". Our band is made up of (40) musicians, musicians, who attend rehearsals every week, in Town hall. Members originate originate from Municipality of Clarington, and as far north as Lindsay, Peterborough, Peterborough, and as far west as City of Toronto. Toronto. Congratulations Congratulations to all! 4T Club Christmas Party Forty .eight members and guests of Orono 4T Club gathered Thursday evening, December 15 in Durham Complex hall, which was prettily decorated for the festive season. A delicious full course turkey dinner dinner was capably served by the young people of Orono Fundraising Committees, Committees, for Orono Arena. A big thank you was voiced to the workers. Following dinner, President Doris Day welcomed everyone and read a poem and then gave blessing for dinner. dinner. A delightful program of beautiful music by the "Sparks", "Brownies", "Girl Guides" and "Pathfinders", and their leaders and some parents. Mrs. Lois McLeod played the guitar for accompaniment. Isabelle read a pretty pretty Christmas poem and Allan Coles provided a splendid array of music and singing, and the audience gave a huge round of applause. Of course Mrs. Santa Claus arrived arrived to music of (what else?) Jingle Bells! She handed out many questionable questionable gifts, cookbooks, cards, etc. and read out letter to Santa! Concert Band Presents "Sounds of Christmas Concert" The Clarington Conceit Band performed its "Sounds of Christmas Concert" on December 15th to a packed Orono Town Hall. The program featured Christmas favorites from the big band era, from Disney movies, and from Broadway hits such as The Phantom of the Opera.
