The Clarington Independent, Bowmanville, Saturday, December 24,1994 25 Christmas Stories from Knox Christian School Students Grade 8 Christmas On December 25 a long time ago, Mary and Joseph came to Bethlehem. To a stable they came to stay, But they were sent away. In a humble stable they stayed, Where there was lots of hay. There was a bright star, That brought three wisemen from afar. They brought presents and gifts for the new bom Saviour. The shepherds and their sheep came and left without making a peep. Baby Jesus was surrounded by sheep, And he quickly and quietly fell asleep. By: Marie Spoelstra A Christmas Poem Jesus was bom on Christmas Day Cradled softly in the hay, He came to us as a child Soft, sweet and very mild. In a manger he lay That very cold and frigid day. While some shepherds lay on a hill Everything was very still. When in the dark, night sky Angels began to sing on high! It gave the shepherds such a fright They jumped up and took flight. But the angel said, "Do not fear, For the kingdom of God is near." They said, "A child is bom tonight If you go you'll see an awesome sight." So the shepherds went to see the child In the hay all stacked and piled. While the shepherds worshipped the king Three wisemen came and greeted him From the Orient, which is very far They followed a large bright star. King Jesus was bom that night In a stable cold and bright. They gave him gifts of myrrh and gold Also frankinsence for the little boy. by Jason Bakker What is Christmas? Becky DeVries What is Christmas? People often wonder. Why do we celebrate? People often ask. What is so special about this day? Children ponder. This is the day Jesus was bom to set about his awful task! The gifts are symbols of God's gift to us. Love, joy, and life just to name a few. But the greatest gift of all is God's son Jesus. He came to earth for me and you. What is this awful task Jesus had to do? He had to die on Calvary's cross, Suffer a hard and painful death, that's what He had to do, So that the gift of heaven might be given to us. Becky DeVries Christmas Poem The hotel keeper said there were no more beds. So Mary and Joseph went to a crummy old shed. They were three wise man tending their flocks, who got a vision to travel afar. So they listened to God and followed followed a big bright shining star. Then came three wise men with their gold and myrrh. And then came the baby so holy and pure. He was bom to a mother mild. He is the great newborn child. The wise man went out and told the whole earth. About this little baby boy's birth. When Herod wanted to cut off the boy's head everyone thought he was such a beast. So Mary and Joseph, and the glorious child went away and fled to the cast. Jonathan Hull Christmas 1994 years ago Christ was bom in Bethlehem. Today we celebrate Christ's birth so that we can remember remember why he died on the cross to forgive forgive our sins. Christmas is not just a time for getting presents but it is also a time for sharing your love and care with you other family members. Christmas is also a time to remember that Jesus was bom to forgive our sins. I might get presents for Christmas Christmas but a lot of families cannot afford afford to buy presents so they just have to share their love for each other on Christmas. In the big cities they have funds that people can give money and gifts to so that families that cannot cannot afford presents, have some. In Toronto they have a mountain of toys that they give to children that don't get presents during the Christmas season. At our church we have advent. We light a candle every week during December until Christmas day. On Christmas day we light the fifth candle candle and we have a special service about Christmas day. The best thing about Christmas to me is that I get to see most of my cousins and aunts and uncles. I also get to enjoy time with my family. BylanBonsma A Christmas Poem On that night long ago, God's son Jesus was bom In a stable oh so low Now, remember this on Christmas mom. Three wisemen came on camels They came from the east afar With their gifts and magic spells They were guided by a bright star. Then the many shepherds came With their white, fluffy sheep. They knew this child was not the same ' As the others who were fast asleep. Now this Christ who was so small Was the one child of salvation This child would save us all From sin, and spiritual starvation. Jesus Christ who was this child Will reign as the prince of peace He died for our sins on the cross His love will never cease! Julie DeJager A Christmas Poem Jesus was bom On Christmas mom, To save the earth Through his birth. He was bom to save Love and joy is what he gave. He was not bom in San Jose Nor Santa Fe But from Bethlehem A shepherd's land. The wisemen cam The Lord to exclaim. He was bom a king But never wore a ring. So don't forget what Christmas means And don't forget what you have heard and seen! Bryan Wiltshire Christmas It's not just a day that we get gifts so that we may play. It's the day that Christ was bom many years ago. Christmas has been covered up with treats, gifts and mistletoe. But I still know the real meaning of Christmas Day. The story of Christmas is about stars, wisemen, and sheep. The wisemen saw a bright shining star, showing them the place where the baby lay, from afar. Then they found him lying there in a manger fast asleep. By: Sarah Perry The First Christmas A really, long, long time ago. In a stable with no snow. Here's the place where Christmas began. With Mary on a donkey being led by a man. They were going to Bethlehem, Joseph's home town. For the census they walked up hills and down. When they finally got there the hotels were all full, At the stable Joseph opened the door with a pull. In the stable there was a mule and a few sheep, There was only hay to lay on to sleep. It was better than outside so there they would stay, That is where Mary gave birth that first Christmas day. She put the baby in the manger where animals eat, She tried everything to get him to sleep. Then the wiseman came with their presents, They gave him myrrh, gold and incense. But King Herod was angry and wanted him dead, So Joseph and Mary took Jesus and fled. They went to Egypt to hide the baby King. That is why we can have Christmas, rejoice and sing.
