Tyrone News by Jacqueline Vaneyk So the year has turned over and we are now knee-deep in end of the year reports and farm meetings. We take advantage advantage of the "slow" season to learn whatever we can about new products and services. At least we missed the big storms of last week, so we do not have to dig out laneways and yards. Tyrone Community drew together with the Davey family to grieve the loss of a daughter, sister and friend. Kay Davey Bartlett had lived with cancer for many months and passed away last week. The funeral was in Bancroft, with Reverend Reverend Bill Richards conducting. Sympathy goes to all the Davey Davey families. This is a difficult season for many of our older folk, as it is hard to get out and around. Meals on Wheels arc available at a reasonable cost; two or three months of having a hot meal brought in by a friendly volunteer might give a lift to the spirits. Community Care can arrange this easily. Their number is 623-2261. A friendly friendly phone call or short visit from the rest of us might help too. Our UCW collected lots of "stuff' at the last meeting. It has been passed on to where it can be used. The annual congregational meeting will be after church service on January 28. Lunch is being arranged, with the meeting to start (and finish!) as soon as possible. The Bethcsda Cemetery Board is holding their annual public meeting on February 19 at 7:30 p.m., so save the date! Elizabethville Editor's note: This week, wc are happy to welcome back Mrs. Thickson to keep us up-to-date on all the news that's happening in the Eliza- bcthville area. We understand she is now the owner of a new hip which, no doubt, will be helpful when she learns how it functions. According to her news budget, she spent two weeks in the Arthritic hospital, 11 days in Port Hope and District District hospital and has been at home since Dec. 1st. After a check up, she expects to begin begin the ordeal of learning how to walk again. Wc wish her well. As most of her news this week, deals with functions that happened some time in December, we shall bypass that period and await her current current reports. In the interim, she extends belated Christmas Christmas and New Year's greetings greetings to readers.
