Scores and Results from Liberty Bowl 6 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanvillc, Wednesday, April 10,1996 Section Two --Youth Bowlers Roll Strikes for Medals- The second playoff game for the Newcastle Burger King Bantams found them in Newcastle to play the Darlington Auto team on March 28. With the absence of John Armishaw, due to injuries, we needed a strong offensive effort from our grinders. Vince Norton started the Burger King team off with a nice goal early in the first. Other goal scorers for Newcastle were Colin Bayda, Neale Borutskie and Kyle Beacock with a pair. In addition to helping out in the scoring department, Kyle also came up big filling in on defence. Final scorn of this hard hitting game was Burger King 5, Darlington Auto 2. March 31 found the Burger King team in Orono to play the Roy Nichols Bantam team. Newcastle's Randy Brennan put his team ahead on a pair of first period goals. The first was unassisted, while Steve Foster and Colin Bayda assisted on the second. Late in the first, Roy Nichols got what would be their only goal. In the second period, Ron Smith powered the puck into the Roy Nichols end and fed a pass to complete Randy's hat-trick. Early in the third period, Steve Foster scored on a sharp angle to up the score to 4-1 in Newcastle's favour. Assisting on this final goal of the game was Colin Bayda and Craig Harness. The senior boys' team, of the Bowmanvillc Youth Bowling League, returned home with a third place finish from a recent tournament tournament in Port Hope. Coach Bonnie Vickery, centre, would like to congratulate congratulate Ryan Preston, Dave DeGraaf, Andrew Break, Rob Toutant, and Nick Vickery for earning a bronze medal. The Bowmanvillc Youth Bowling League's Bantam girls' team won a bronze medal at a tournament in Peterborough recently. Jenny Darch, Kathleen Moore, Lyndsay White, Adrienne Barrie and Sharon Cook brought home the medal. The team is coached by Patti Barrie (back row, far left). The Bowmanvillc Youth Bowling League's Tyke boys' team won gold medals in the Two Steps to Stardom Championship.
