After a delicious dinner enjoyed by 11 members and three guests, we returned upstairs to our meeting room. Mavis Carleton introduced our guest speaker, Deannc McFadden, Chartered Financial Planner, who is employed by Midland Walwyn in their Oshawa office. She advised us to buy stocks of good quality companies. Do not invest in stocks when interest rates arc high, she added. If inflation goes up, interest will go up. People should start investing in stocks, bonds, GIC, RRSPs and other savings when they arc young, to build up some savings savings for their retirement. Mavis thanked Deannc McFadden and presented her with a painting. Judy Hagerman conducted a short business meeting. The members were pleased to have President Irene Konzclmann back with us. Barbara Hicks will be a delegate at the Provincial Business and Professional Women's Club convention in May in Kingston and Mavis Carleton will be alternate. Irene Konzclmann will be delegate and Judy Hagerman alternate to National Convention in August in Sudbury. . The next meeting of the Bowmanville Business and Professional Club will be held on April 18th, 1996 at .Cafe Cosima.
