HP a Grant Physiotherapy, of the Clarington Girls' Hockey Association, had a successful year, winning the Bantam 'C' Championship at the Leaside Tournament. Driving in Fog, Mist and Haze Fog can occur with high humidity or heavy frost. It can be so mild that you can see through it for several hundred feet. Or it might be so thick that you can only see a few hundred feet ahead. It may come suddenly to an otherwise clear road. And it can be a major hazard. When you drive into a fog patch, your visibility will be reduced quickly. The biggest dangers are striking the vehicle vehicle ahead or being struck by the one behind. Try to "read" the fog density down the road. If the vehicle ahead starts to become less clear or, at night, if the taillights are harder to see, the fog is probably probably thickening. Slow down. Everybody then has a better chance to avoid hitting the vehicle ahead. A patch of dense fog may extend only for a few feet or for miles; you can't really tell while you're in it. You can only treat the situation with extreme care. One common fog condition condition - sometimes called mist or ground fog - can happen in weather that seems perfect. Especially at night or early morning in valley and low, marshy areas. You can be suddenly enveloped in thick, wet haze that may even coat your windshield. You can often spot these fog patches or mist layers with your headlights. headlights. But sometimes they can be waiting for you as you come over a hill or dip into a shallow valley. Start your windshield wipers and washer, washer, to help clear accumulated road dirt. Slow down carefully. For more information I can be reached at Cowan Pontiac-Buick 905-623-3396. ©j.p. The first game had them coming up against local rival ,Durham West, who opened the scoring in the first period. It was a scoreless second period. period. Early in the third, Clarington's Krista Traynor brought out the puck and got it up to Emily Muir who scored to tie the game. The last four seconds proved to be the boil-over point for both teams as a bodycheck from Durham West resulted in a scuffle that saw Clarington's captain, Jessica Andrews, receive a two-game suspension. Final result was a 1-1 tie. MVP for Clarington was goaltender Liz Millson. Game two saw Grant Physiotherapy outplay the Etobicoke Dolphins 4-0. The Dolphins received five penalties penalties and each time the Clarington girls backed away from any retaliation. MVP Emily Muir scored all four goals for Clarington, two on break-aways and the others with assists from Nicole Pot and Lisa Akeson, and from Andrea Griffin and Krista Traynor. Game three found Clarington up against the home team, Leaside Wildcats, who had a long bench with 19 players to Clarington's 10 plus two "pick-up" Peewee players, Brooke Pakosta and Michelle Walker. Liz Millson was outstanding in net for Clarington, stopping over 30 shots, which kept the game scoreless for 2 1/2 periods. Then, at 5:47 of the third period, period, a pass from Mireille Durand to Emily Muir got Grant Physiotherapy on the scoreboard. As the game was drawing to a close, the Wildcats pulled their goalie, but a breakaway by Emily Muir with just 27 seconds remaining found the empty net an easy target.
