Section Two The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, Wednesday, April 17, 1996 5 Ladies' Volleyball League Ends Season with Playoff Matches Top Goalie Earns High Praise The 'A' Division title game of the Newcastle Ladies' Volleyball League could be described as a classic. The players pictured above had to come back from being two games down, and being behind 13-6 in the fifth game to win the championship. Bowmanville resident Jesse Francis and the Central Ontario Minor Novice 'AAA' Wolves have returned from the OMHA playoffs in Brampton as the All-Ontario Champions. Jesse posted a playoff record of eight straight victories, victories, three shutouts, and a goals against average of 1.37. These statistics helped him earn a round robin MVP, while a 3-0 shutout against a very strong Whitby team in the OMHA Championship allowed him to capture a finals MVP award. Jesse would like to take this opportunity to thank downtown Bowmanville Merchants Kevin Anyan of King Street Bar & Grill, Laurie Allen of Cactus Clothing, and Mary Ann Brooks of Clipps and Crafts for their generous help in sponsoring him this year. It is a huge credit to our town to have such great support. Jesse Francis rmlM BOWMANVILLE C.M.H.A. TOROS rY ANNUAL MEETING DATE: SUNDAY, APRIL 21ST, 1996 LOCATION: GARNET B. RICKARD REC.
