12 The Clarington/Courtice Independent, Bowmanville, Saturday, May 11,1996 Enniskillen Public School Planning Reunion for May V ^-Vv.i: 5th Anniversary Celebration The Kaitlin Group and the Aspen Springs Community in Bowmanville celebrated Aspen Springs' 5th anniversary anniversary on Saturday, May 4th, with a Model Home Opening Party complete with birthday cake. The Aspen Springs community is home to over 400 families and growing. Second Marsh a TV Star entitled Great Lakes Alive. Three shows are being aired: The Great Experiment on May 2 at 7 p.m.; To the Last Drop on : May 9 at 7 p.m. and Restoring the Balance (featuring Second Marsh) on May 16 at 7 p.m. The organizers of the Enniskillen Public School Reunion, Thursday, May 23, to Saturday, May 25, are calling for former teachers and students students from nine schools in former former District 9 to attend. Donna Worry and Marilyn Morawetz would like everyone who attended Bakers S.S. 19; Bradleys S.S. 14; Burketon S.S. 7; Enfield S.S. 15; Enniskillen S.S. 16; Haydon S.S. 21; Long Sault S.S. 13; Tryone S.S. 18 and Union S.S. 17 to attend and participate in the weekend event. Many of these schools were open from the mid-1800s to the late 1960s and 1970s, Morawetz said. Werry and Morawetz noted, there will be lots of activities for everyone to enjoy, no matter matter their age. In fact, ex-students ex-students of all ages are expected to attend. The main activities will take place at the Enniskillen Public School on Old Scugog Road in Enniskillen. On Thursday, May 23, from 9 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. there will be a vast display during the Education Week Open House. The school will be open to parents parents of children attending the school now and for visitors. "During the School Open House, there will be displays full of memorabilia, including pictures, art work, pointers, slates, certificates and a teacher engagement," Morawetz said. A teacher engagement was a contract which formally hired a new teacher. Friday, May 24, the school will again be open to visitors, there will be registration for the events from 1 to 8:30 p.m. Between 5 and 7 p.m. there will be a community barbecue. "This (the barbecue) will be put on by the Tyrone Athletic Association. There will also be clowns, face painting and student student performers," she said. Folks planning to attend are asked to bring lawn chairs. On Saturday, the day begins with a Pancake Breakfast served up by the 4-H'ers at the Solina Community Hall beginning beginning at 8:30 a.m. and continuing continuing on until 10:30 a.m. Tickets for breakfast will be sold at the To page 20 Tune in to TV Ontario May 16 at 7 p.m. for "Restoring the Balance," an episode of Fragile Nature, featuring Oshawa's Second Marsh. The weekly environmental show is doing a special series a r MUNICIPALITY OF arington ONTARIO ~ PUBLIC PARTICIPATION WORKSHOP 1996 CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS BOWMANVILLE The Municipality of Clarington has passed its 1996 Capital Works Budget, and the following work projects are scheduled for construction in Bowmanville this year. • Fourth Street - Scugog Street - Sidewalk Construction This project involves the extension of sidewalk on Fourth Street from Lambs Lane to Scugog Street and on Scugog Street from Fourth Street-to Meadowview Boulevard. The precise location of the sidewalk within the Municipal road allowance is yet to be determined. • Highway 2 Reconstruction 140 Metres East of Green Road to Regional Road 57 Due to the impending commercial development adjacent to Highway 2 in this area the existing rural roadway will be reconstructed to an urban standard with a centre median. Traffic signals will be introduced at the westerly access to Canadian Tire. • Green Road Reconstruction from Highway 2 to 550 Metres South of Highway 2 This project will be activated by adjacent development, and will include the reconstruction of the roadway to an urban standard including the installation of watermains, sanitary sewers and storm sewers. A Public Workshop will be held on Thursday, May 16,1996, between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Administration Centre, 40 Temperance Street, Bowmanville. Plans will be available for review and staff will be present to answer questions. Your local knowledge of the area can provide valuable information for finalizing the design plans.
