It has been done!! The weatherman has given us much rain and cool weather again. Crops arc still waiting to be planted. We have one more week of cards. This Friday will be our last card party until fall. We had 8 1/2 tables Friday, with results as follows; high scores - Lyra Flintoff, Ida Bray, Marion Broome, Clarence Bray. Most honest players - the Watsons, most lone hands - John Broome. Lucky draws - Elaine Baker, Lois Yellowlees (2), Helen Wcathcrup, Charles Langmaid, Si Trewin, Wes Hills. Vi Ashton looked after lunch. Two carloads from our card party group enjoyed supper supper at Ncstlcton on Saturday night. It was put on by the U.C.W. for the church. A bright but cool morning for our church service. The McGregor family were our. greeters and Lois Yellowlees our lay reader. Our service opened with the organ prelude and Choral Introit, Holy Ground, followed by the Prayer of Approach. Hymn "How Great Thou Art" and greetings and announcements. Our choir number was "Sing Praises to the Father". The children's story "Mom, Thank You for Everything", was followed by prayer. Hymn "Come, Let Us Sing", and Reverend Munro's message, "If You Love Me, You Will." Hymn "Take My Life", and the choral postlude - "Go Now and Pass It On" closed the service. It was a lovely Mother's Day service. Flowers in the church were put in by our U.C.W. ladies. May 22 official board meeting, meeting, 7:30 at Eldad Church. May 26 Eldad Sunday School Anniversary Service 2:00 p.m. at the Solina Park. May 25 Pancake Breakfast, at Solina Hall, sponsored by 4H members 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tickets at the door $5.00. This is in connection with the Enniskillen School reunion. All arc welcome. The rural bowling banquet was held at Solina Hall on Saturday, May 11th. Barb and Dick had supper with Mary Lee Howe in Oshawa on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs, Edgar Wright and Betty, Mrs. Russell Onniston and Miss Marguerite Wright, of Oshawa, were Sunday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Wright, Jeff and Trevor, Solina. During this past week, three of our former residents were called to their eternal resting places, Keith Shackclton, husband husband of Muriel (nee) Tink, Alice Brunt, wife of the late Arthur Brunt of Bowmanvillc and Marjory Stainton (ncc) Martin, wife of the late Charles Stainton. Enniskillen Sunday School Anniversary Dinner was a complete success and the service service on Sunday was very well done and full almost to capacity- capacity- We wish to thank everybody everybody who participated on Sunday and on Saturday evening, including the ladies and gentlemen who fed us, ushered ushered us, organized us and cleaned up after the dinner on Saturday evening. The First Enniskillen Guide Company finished up their year by going canvas camping at Camp Ademac. The camp was held May 3, 4, 5th. The theme was Disney. We held the Disneyland Games on Saturday afternoon. We played a scries of silly relays. The weather held up very well. The girls made foil ovens and cooked cakes. They also made their own dinners and cooked them over coals. It was a little cool at night, but at least it didn't rain! The Guides would like to thank Gail Clark for helping out this past year. We would also like to wish Joanic Parsons and family good luck as they move to their new home on Manitoulin Island. roast beef dinner was put on by Vi Ashton and her helpers. There were about 70 who sat down for the meal. The dinner group was thanked and the program continued continued with President Jim Coombcs chairing the program in his usual jolly mood. Ken Bragg had charge of a few well chosen gifts for the teams. It was very interesting, as Ken had many interesting items to present. A job well done. Jim thanked Ron Martyn for his untiring time as secretary. He is moving and will be missed by all. Waterfront Trail Anniversary Next Saturday, May 25, brings the first anniversary of the Waterfront Trail to all the lakcshore communities from Burlington to Trenton. To celebrate the anniversary, anniversary, a relay starting at both ends of the trail will begin in the morning, with relay participants participants coming together in the Big Bike Fundraiser A 50-foot long, 30-seat bike will take to the streets of Bowmanville to raise funds and awareness for stroke, Canada's most neglected disease.
