Commissioner of Planning © j p Motor City Randy "Bearclaw" Barden,, and Jamie "The Warrior" Waduck, travelled to Jonquiere, Quebec, as part of the Ontario Jn Provincial Boxing Team, to compete against other Provincial Champions from across Canada. Randy "Bearclaw" Barden, the current Jr. Ontario Featherweight Champion (125 lbs.), took, on the Prince Edward Island Lightweight Champ, Justin Chisson. Randy performed very well for his first trip to the Nationals, and gave the older more experienced Chisson all he could handle in their semi-final bout. Despite a good effort, Randy dropped a close decision to Chisson and picked up the bronze medal. Jamie "The Warrior" Waduck, the current Jr. Ontario Heavyweight Champion (201 lb.), made his second trip to the National Championships in as many years. Jamie made it to the finals this year and took on the Nova Scotia Heavyweight Champion, Jaye Baye. By the second round it was obvious this match was an all-out war, with Baye landing hard shots and Waduck battling back. In the end, Baye won what was the best bout of the entire Championships. Waduck earned the silver medal for his efforts. • • "We have a shot at the playoffs, but I want the team to take it one game at a time until then," Willems explained. He had to fold the senior team this year because the players weren't committed, which didn't please him. But, he said he is happy with the juniors. "They make it enjoyable for me," he added. "The dedication dedication is there, even though most of them work." Willems, who is a graduate of Clarke, attended Brock BHS Softball From page 1 leaf education said. "We have 12-15 players on the team that show up." Arbuckle does feel fortunate fortunate to be a part of a great coaching staff. "Harvey Webster, my assistant, has extensive background background in all sorts of ball, so it's good," she said. Arbuckle predicts that the toughest competition will come from Eastdale and Anderson. University for four years, where he was on the varsity rugby team. He has also played club rugby in Markham, and plans on playing playing with the Oshawa Vikings this season. The one thing about rugby that he loves the most is the tradition of the game. "The game has a great tradition tradition and one of them is for both teams to shake hands after the game," he stated. "Unlike hockey, where teams change in different rooms, rugby teams change in the same room and everything is left on the field after the game."
