By the end of the day on Wednesday, May 8, BHS students had collected collected over 100 bags of garbage from public property in Bowmanvillc. The clean-up was part of the Pitch-In Week which is sponsored by the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, in co-operation with Pilch-In Canada. Durham College Enrollment Increases With education being a hot topic lately - everything from funding, low enrolment to increased tuition, Durham College is continuing to lead the province with a 20% increase in post-secondary enrolment. While other colleges in the system are suffering a low enrolment rate, Durham College is forging ahead with an increase in not only first year enrolment, but also second and third year enrolment. Along with an incredible interest interest in new programs, there has been a significant increase in students coming to Durham College from university and other training areas. Figures show a 20 % increase from a year ago Durham College has worked hard to distinguish itself in four key ways which are important to its clients, the students. The Employer Guarantee, is one example of how Durham College is striving to be accountable to students. Under the guarantee, Durham College will provide further training, for up to one full year after graduation, if the employer finds the graduate doesn't have the skills or knowledge which are part of the course of study. So far, in two years, two out of 1,158 graduates have required retraining. The Durham University Centre at the Oshawa Campus is open for business, beginning in September 1996, drawing significant interest from the Durham community. The local team was one of six finalists finalists from 30 schools across the board. The annual Think Bowl is a creative problem solving competition. competition. Lillian Grace Mulle Bom and educated in Toronto, Lillian Grace Mulle, aged 63, died Wednesday, May 1,1996, in Memorial Hospital, Bowmanvillc. The daughter of Helena and Emmerson Ough, she was married married June 7, 1952, to Augustus Mulle. A resident of 59 Fairway Drive, (Wilmot Creek), Newcastle, she had previously resided at 118 Newport Avenue, Scarborough. . Funeral services were held at the Northeutt Elliott Funeral Home, Bowmanvillc, on Saturday with the Reverend Louise Graves officiating. The organist was Ms. Madlyn Wilcox.
