Blackstock News By Joyce Kelly ' Our community was shocked and saddened by the very sudden death at his home in his garden of William (Bill) McLean of north Blackstock. Sympathy is extended to his wife Doreen and his son Larry and Joanne McLean and their daughters Ashley, Stacey and Melissa. Bill will indeed be missed so very much by family and friends alike. Congratulations to Jill VanCamp who received her Bachelor of Science Occupational Therapy Degree at Convocation Exercises of Queen's University at Kingston on Saturday afternoon. They enjoyed attending a School reunion there. At the United Church on Sunday morning Confirmation was held when four young people people renewed their Baptismal Faith. Received were Amanda Bradbum, Timothy Martyn, Mark Martyn and Julie Obstefeld. Ron Brittain, the Interim Student Minister and Reverend David Shearman shared the impressive service. There will be worship at the regular time of 10:00 a.m. next Sunday. Nestleton Sunday School anniversary is also next Sunday with Lois McLeod as guest speaker at 11:15 a.m. 22 and 23rd, from a location near Tyrone. The 24-hour Field Day contest contest is the largest of the North American Ham radio contests, and is used by hams to test their equipment for field conditions such as national emergencies.
