We will have the children do the whole service. They will be singing, saying memory verses and dancing. After the service, as a special treat, we are all invited back to Carol and Grant Yco's house for a picnic! (The congregation is asked to bring salads or desserts). Community Care Dinner The last dinner for this winter-spring winter-spring season of fun dinners at Orono United Church was held Wednesday, May 29, with a goodly crowd of Sr. Citizens present. The Kirby group presented presented a delightful salad dinner, cold cuts, and salads of every kind. They were served by a well dressed team of waiters consisting of Reverend Russell, Bill Reid and Claire Chapman. Dini Schoenmaker welcomed welcomed everyone and Reverend Russell gave the blessing before dinner, and we were warmly entertained by the "Earth Angels" during dinner. The opening presentation "Let there be Peace on Earth", was forerunner of a splendid musical menu of entertainment. •Isabelle thanked the group for coming to us, and a sing-along was enjoyed by all! Dini presented flowers to the group, and thanks to Kirby for a good dinner! The community was shocked Monday, May 27, to hear of the sudden passing of a long lime, respected citizen in the person of Gordon Watson. Sympathy to his wife, Velma, and family. The funeral was held from Morris Funeral Home. Reverend Russell officiated, and neighbours sent flowers and donations to Bowmanville Hospital fund, in his memory. Congratulations to new owners owners of the armouries, in front entrance change and newly designed front flower beds. Also to the newly opened shop on the front street, "Forget Me Mots." Their sewing and crafts, formerly were in the lower town hall offices! Mr. Donald Challice and friend Betty Miller were Saturday guests of his parents the Challices, and also Thursday- Sunday visitors of our great-granddaughters Misses Jessica and Jennifer Hcckbcrt, all from Oshawa. Mrs. Jennie Bowins spent several days last week in Niagara-on-thc-Lakc with her daughter and friends from Oshawa. Special guests of O. Challices this week, our two great-granddaughters, Jessica and Jennifer Hcckbcrt, Oshawa, while their mother was visiting friends in Nova Scotia, Again Orono was deluged with sales, yard, and two auctions, auctions, one at St. Saviour's with Frank Stapleton and bake, car wash and yard sales at the United Church. Those in charge of the auction at the United church reported sales of $437.00 to help their Vacation Bible School in July. Special music at Orono United Church by "Earth Angels" and the scripture was recited by .the choir. The town never looked lovelier lovelier with it lilacs and blossoms in front of Town Hall. Planters arc all ready to go! United Church A warm welcome to our guest speaker, Mrs. Mary Sproul, from Pickering Village United Church. Our guest singers arc the 'Earth Angels', Janie Dodds, Cheryl Reid, Pat Lycctt, and Nancy Barber accompanied by Gillian Barfoot.
