Guide News Twenty-two Guides, leaders and volunteer QMs from the 2nd Newcastle Company enjoyed a great time at Sandaraska campgrounds this weekend past. The theme was "Wild Cals" and patrols were named Cougars, Leopards, Panthers, Tigers and Cheetahs - appropriately the adults were the Lionesses! The popular phrase was "talk to the paw!" After spending a chilly night under canvas on Friday, Saturday was sunny and hot, with the Guides cooling off with a water fight and doing crafts. Late Saturday night, brave Guides and their fearless leaders trekked into the forest to search for the "Ghost of the Ganaraska" - Timothy Lancaster. Despite bells ringing and flashlights sweeping the woods, poor Timothy's restless spirit couldn't be found and his whereabouts remain a mystery! Camp memories arc special and these Guides won't soon forget the sight of the Lionesses dressed as cats singing "What's New Pussycat?" (Apologies to Tom Jones.) as they danced around campfire; QMs "Lucy" and "Ethel," known in civilian life as Kathy Knight and Debbie Brunt, and their amazing amazing pancake production line; the beautiful graces by Amy, Andrea, Alexis and Cara before our meals; and the moving words from the girls as they thanked their leaders during Guide's Own.
