Richards The members of the Durham Durham Region's North wind Drum & Bugle Corps are going going to Nashville, Atlanta and Orlando for 15 days. Four corps from across Ontario and one from Quebec took part in the extravaganza. One of the things that sets the Oshawa-based Northwind Drum & Bugle Corps apart from the rest of the groups on the weekend is that the group has one of the few co-ed color color guards, said Grable. The entire corps is made up of 15 musicians and five dancers and the average age of the members is 12. Membership is open to all boys and girls ages 11 to 21 years. The Corps performed its selections from Once On This Island" for about 130 people on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 4, at Bowmanville High School. The corps was taking part in the 1st Annual Kinsmen Marching Band Spectacular. Once the members complete complete that competition they will be finished their competitive competitive season. As Grable noted, "soon it will be time to begin planning planning next year's competitive season." It will also mean honing up the tunes used at parades across the province. The Northwind Drum & Bugle Corps have been at thé Bowmanville Bowmanville Santa Claus Parade on occasion, and have played in other parades in the Golden Golden Horseshoe area, Grable said.
