Big Brothers of Clarington will join other Big Brother Agencies Agencies across Canada in celebrating celebrating Big Brother Month. To celebrate Big Brothers Month, the Big Brothers of Clarington Flag will be raised at the Town Hall during a Flag-Raising Ceremony on September 9 at 9:00 a.m. and will remain flying for the rest of September. Along with the flag-raising several events are planned to raise awareness of our programs in attempt to recruit recruit volunteers. This year Big Brothers of Clarington will begin the celebration celebration early with a Car Wash at The Fifth Wheel on Friday, August 30 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, August August 31 from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Big Brothers of Clarington will hold their 7th Annual Pet Show at the Durham Central Agricultural Fair on Sunday, September 8 in Orono Arena. There is no admission to enter the show and prizes and trophies trophies will be awarded. The Pet Show is open to all children 16 years and under. Registration is from 9:00 a.m. - 9:45 a.m. and the show will begin at 10:00 a.m. On September 14 from 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m., Big Brothers offer offer everyone the opportunity to find some new treasures at our Yard Sale and Bake Sale in the parking lot of the Big Brothers office at 23 Scugog St., Bowmanville. Bowmanville. You can also make donations to the sale by dropping dropping off unwanted articles, before before September 14 at the Big Brothers office during office hours. Proceeds from the Bake Sale will go to the agency's United Way Campaign. The celebration continues at Big Brothers of Clarington's 2nd Annual BBQ and Talent Showcase. On September 21, at Archibald Orchards in Ty rone from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., everyone is welcome to show off their talents in our talent talent show. There will be games, prizes and entertainment for the children including Uncle Moc, a clow'ii and a dancer. Along with all this, Archibald Orchards will have all their regular activities which include wagon rides, a Children's Theatre, a straw maze and jump and farm animals. We invite the community to join us at these e'vents and help celebrate Big Brother Month. Aesthetician Addresses Rotary Club Ruth Nunn (left) owner of Rulhie's Nail Care Centre, was the guest speaker at the Bowmanville Rotary Club on Thursday, August 8. She presented her classification talk to fellow Rotary Club members, despite the fact that a power outage forced the Rotarians to continue the meeting by candlelight. The guest speaker is shown with Club President Len Koenderman and Val Gardiner. In a classification talk, a Rotarian updates fellow members over developments in his or her career. Ruth Nunn spoke of the role of an aesthetician, noting that her shop provides provides a complete range of services, including waxing, manicures, make-up, and pedicures. She opened her Bowmanville shop nine years ago. More recently, Lisa Lambier, of Bobette's Unisex has been sharing the location. location. This means the shop offers one-stop beauty services from head to toe. Rotarians were reminded that the shop is not just for women.
