4 The Clarington/Courtice Independent, Bowmanville, Saturday, August 24,1996 Historic Cream of Barley Mill Featured in Visual Arts Centre's Juried Show In honor of its 20-ycar anniversary, anniversary, the Visual Arts Centre has decided to launch its first-ever Juried Show using using the Mill as its theme. "Normally we don't have theme shows," explains Jane Marie McAvoy of the VAC. "This is just a little extra special special twist for the show." Submissions for the October October 6 Juried Show of Fine Arts are still being accepted. However, all submissions must somehow ' connect through medium, image or metaphor, to the Mill. The historic building on Soper Creek where the Visual Arts Centre is located was formerly the Cream of Barley Mill. Entry forms for the show are available from the Visual Arts Centre on Simpson Avenue Avenue in Bowmanville and must be completed and returned by September 4. Entries can be paintings, drawings, sculpture or mixed media and must be delivered to the Visual Arts Centre by Thursday, September 19th. Entry fee is $11 for Visual Arts Centre members. The Juror for the show will be Yvonne Singer, who has taught at several universities, universities, including California and York.
