Ill past "Mad Max" Papis' Ferrari 333 SP on the final comer of the last lap to take a thrilling .189-second victory in Sunday's Sunday's World Sports Car Championship, Championship, the feature of the Chrysler Mosport 500 Weekend. Ill of WSC points leader Wayne Taylor and Jim Pace. In earlier Mosport action Sunday, Sam Ryan of Blakes- lee, PA cruised to a 33-second victory in the Canadian Tire Mosport Challenge in the Slick 50 Pro Series. It was Ryan's first professional victory, and it came in a car he had borrowed from a friend. Quebec driver Jacek Mucha was second, while Californian Mike Anderson Anderson finished third, and was first in the Toyota World Sports Racer category. And, the Que bec team of Benoit Theetge and Sylvain Tremblay drove their Mazda RX-7. to an 8- second win in a one-hour Canadian Canadian endurance event; Scott Maxwell and Anthony Polito of Port Credit were second in a Cobra Mustang, and Greg Wilkens and Ken Wilden of Burlington took third in a Firebird. Firebird. Next major Mosport Park event is the Castrol 150, on the fast Mosport International Speedway oval, on the weekend weekend of September 14-15. This event is the final round of the CASCAR Eastern Super Series, Series, and features the top Late Model stock car drivers in Ontario Ontario and Quebec. The four classes of cars that regularly race at Mosport International Speedway will also be included included in the weekend schedule. Second: The mixed trebles Flo and Harry Lott Memorial Memorial Tournament played in Whitby on August 17 boasts our George Jackson, Doreen Jackson and George Dadson as Trophy winners. Great bowling guys. Third: Off to Lindsay now on August 19, where Dianne Merrill, Norma Watts and Arliene Marshall (of Oshawa Club) played in The Doug and Olive Parsons Ladies' Ladies' Trebles Tournament. Guess what? They also were the Trophy winners. Congratulations Congratulations to all of you. Just found out we had another another winning team on August 24 playing as Mixed Trebles in Port Hope. George and Doreen Jackson plus George Dadson won the two-game high score and prize. Sixteen members enjoyed two games on our own greens in the beautiful weather on Sunday. One of the most exciting races ever held at Mosport Park occurred over the weekend, weekend, when Sunday's feature race, the Chrysler Mosport 500, wasn't decided until the final lap. The weekend featured three days of racing, with a number of different classes classes taking to the track.
