The firefighters raised the money at a New Year's dance. Premiers Were "Light-Headed" province of Ontario and yet they have a population greater than all of Canada. Haven't we decentralized a tad too much? Canadians are fed up with the bickering and petty politics of provincial politicians, who are attempting to better their own power base at the expense of a nation. No one sits down and talks about what it would take to- make a truly remarkable country country as we have, the potential to be. School children transferring from one province to the next with no certainty of their place in the classroom, history totally totally rewritten in the province of Quebec, medical services and quality differing among provinces, provinces, and one province shipping its welfare recipients to another. 'This is what the decentralizing decentralizing moves of provincial provincial politicians have already created. Employment Insurance, Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, agricultural services, postal services, immigration services, RCMP, and other federal federal services are administered, right here in Durham. Compare Compare this to the top-down administration administration from Queen's Park and ask yourself which government is closer to the people. This conduct is inappropriate inappropriate for elected officials. Tearing down the federal role in the areas of national standards in healthcare and welfare was some kind of rallying rallying cry for Alberta, Ontario and the separatist government of Quebec. Now you would think that being aligned with people who want to destroy our nation would give some of our provincial provincial politicians cause for reflection. reflection. Not Mr. Klein who thought Mr. Bouchard's comments comments were useful. Don't forget Mr. Klein's province's revenue is mainly from the resources sector. Under Under the constitution they are the domain of the provinces. The national energy policy which attempted to provide resource resource sharing on a national basis was hotly disputed. Who said at the time, referring referring to the rest of Canada and specifically here in Ontario, let them freeze in the dark? I believe believe it was then mayor of Calgary, Calgary, Mr. " Klein. And, of course, we all know where Mr. Bouchard would take Quebec. But how astounding to see our own premier talk about dismantling dismantling federal powers. The state of California spends less money than the
