That's the Spirit The newest contest for the Durham Central Fair, in Orono has produced some great results. The Outdoor Display was judged on Sunday, Aug. 25, with top honors going to the Porter family on Hwy 115 north of Orono. Displays promoting the Orono Fair had to be constructed outdoors on private property in Clarington. This was a family effort for Gail and Randy and their children Luke, Lauren and Duncan, who helped to build and assemble the display. The Porter family's display included a fanning fanning mill which was once used to separate seeds for planting from unwanted materials. This display will remain remain in place until after the fair which takes place from Thursday, Sept. 5 to Sunday, Sept. 8. The Porter family picked up a First Prize ribbon and a $25 prize donated by The Kaitlin Group and Port of Newcastle. Dave and Kate Lang on Main Street, Orono, got into the spirit of the Durham Central Fair in Orono by producing producing an Outside Display for the newest contest which promotes the fair.
