Battle of the Bands Mark Saturday night, 8:30, Sept. 7 on your calendar calendar for the Battle of the Bands at the 144th Annual Durham Central Fair at Oro- no. Co-organizer Eric Dreslin- ski has been hard at work trying trying to ensure that this year's event is spectacular for the participants and audience. The three bands that will be performing are: Pseudonym, Pseudonym, Figure 4 and Mellow Drive. While Dreslinski dislikes categorizing bands, he did note that Pseudonym, from Hampton, is "contemporary art rock" while Figure 4 is "a high energy punk band." And Mellow Drive, from Peterborough, Peterborough, is "classic rock." The feature band, Tempus, from Oshawa, will be performing performing at the end of the contest contest This band is what he described described as "alternative." The criteria for bands performing performing at the Battle of the Bands is that the average age is 21. One-half of the mem bers must be students, and they needed to have submitted submitted a demo tape for the selec- tion process. The bands participating in the contest will play for one half hour each, with one song being original. The organizers are hoping for 200 to 300 people to attend attend the show. It will take place outside of the arena on Saturday night. It will cost $3 extra to attend the Battle of the Bands, on top of the fair admission price.
