By finishing second in the league's round-robin playoff format, the local club qualified for the championship game against the Whitby Beckers team. i The game was a hotly contested contested affair with the Badgers squeaking out a 15-14 victory. The pumped up Badgers opened the match by scoring 10 mns in the first two innings and held on as the Whitby team closed to within a single run by the last inning. A balanced attack and a strong team effort was the winning winning formula used by the local squad. Although playing all season against more experienced experienced teams in a league that has been operating for the last 25 years, the Badgers prevailed on a ton of hustle and a lineup full of positive attitudes. The winning pitcher, Per- nille Petersen, scattered eight hits and struck out seven in going going the distance, and was awarded with the league most sportsmanlike playoff player trophy for her efforts.
