Minister Inducted at St. Andrew's An Induction Service was held Tuesday, September 3,1996 at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church for the Reverend Mr. T. Hugh Donnelly, B.A..M. Div. Those participating in the service were representatives from the Presbytery of Lindsay-Peterborough. A significant part of Hugh's preparation for ministry was his internship year spent with the congregation of Hopedale Presbyterian Church Oakville, under the supervision of the Reverend Peter Ruddell. A reception and time of fellowship gave everyone an opportunity to meet the Reverend Mr. T. Hugh Donnelly and his wife Laura Alary. Newcastle Lions News The first official meeting of the Lions Club of Newcastle took place in the Lions Rooms at the Newcastle Community Hall on September 11. Twenty three Lions were present for a self-catered dinner of barbecued barbecued chicken; com, beans, baked potatoes and pie a la mode. President Terry Graham acted acted as Chairman and explained that due to the large amount of business that had collected over the summer, there would be no speaker at this meeting. The Lions Dog Walk A Thon will be held again this year on October 5th in conjunction conjunction with the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce Fall Festival. All monies pledged to this cause will be donated to Lions Foundation of Canada Canine Vision to be used in the training of dogs to help blind, deaf and disabled individuals. Lion Paul Bennett suggested that the Lions Club also get involved involved in the bed race sponsored sponsored by the Downtown Busi ness Improvement Association on the same day. Response to this suggestion was positive, indicating that the Lions will indeed be a top contender in this prestigious event. Bingo Chairman Lions Amos Langley reported bingo receipts from the Durham Central Central Fair were slightly less than previous years. He remarked that, considering the inclement weather, the fair bingo fared very well and expressed thanks to all the supporters. Lion Roy Hopkins reported that the 3rd Annual Newcastle Lions Club Seniors Colour Tour will take place on September September 30 with two busses leaving from the Newcastle Community Hall at 8 a.m. ; They will venture through Northern Ontario to Algonquin Park and back home by 8 p.m. There will be no charge for the transportation but all participants participants will be responsible for their own meals. Fifty-seven members of Herb and Lottie Rundle's family attended this year despite despite it being a very rainy day. We gathered together around 1:00 and were soon feasting on a wide variety of hot and cold dishes. After lunch, our President Lynda Su- pryka welcomed us and called our meeting to order.
