Haunted Dungeon Fundraiser Happenings in Blackstock by Joyce Kelly On Saturday evening a large number of friends and relatives gathered at the Nestle- ton Hall to wish newlyweds Craig and Susan Paisley best wishes. Craig and Susan had flown in from Calgary on Saturday Saturday morning for a very short weekend stay in Ontario. St. John's Anglican News The Parishioners of St. John's, Blackstock, were saddened saddened to leam that Bernard Umphrey, Kerry Umphrey's father, had passed away on Thanksgiving Day, October 14th. Prayers for the repose of Bernard's soul were offered at the Sunday Morning Service. The prayers and thoughts of all at the church are with Kerry, Ruth and all the family at this difficult time. Surprise visitors at St. John's, this past Sunday morning morning were Toronto's Chief of Police, David Boothby with his wife, Gloria. The Boothbys were weekend guests of St. John's parishioners, Ron and Willa Dick. Father Hugh, who is a friend of the Chief, was really surprised to see him at our church...the Dicks and Peggy Kemohan had planned it that way. An extra special treat on Sunday, was a presentation in prayer and song by the children children of the Church School. The well prepared programme was on the theme "A Prayer of Thanks for Children". It compared compared the lot of children in our relatively wealthy society with that of so many of the world's children who live in poverty. Jane Fisher, who was producer, and all the children who took part, arc to be congratulated. On Sunday evening, October October 27th, at 7:30 p.m., the choirs of Churches in Cartwright Cartwright will gather at St. John's to join in an Ecumenical Choral Choral Evensong and Concert in celebration of All Saints. The evening will feature music sung by each- of the choirs, together together with some combined choir items. It's always worth your while to attend this annual annual event. On All Saints Day, Friday, November 1st, children from St. John's Ascension - Port Perry i and. - St. <. \ Thomas's , ,- Brooklin, will attend an all-day programme of religious education education at St. Thomas's. Saturday, November 2nd, is the date of St. John's Annual Fall Supper. Serving starts at 4:30 p.m. and continues until everyone has been served. This also is the night of the Old- time Fiddling Contest, so why not have a night out on the town in Blackstock with dinner at St. John's followed by the Fiddling and Toe-tapping at the Rec. Centre? Durham East Milk makes it better First Mrs. Johns introduced us to her daughter Andrea, at our October 10th meeting. She will be helping with our club. Then we divided up into parts. One half went with Mrs. Johns for a presentation about cheese while the other half went with Andrea for a presentation about milk. Then we switched after that.
