Jewel Johnson, as president, is guiding our chapter through this year of fun-filled activities and service. During our twice monthly get-togethers, we have plans to have one meeting to take care of business accompanied accompanied by a program and the other other to be more socially involved either among ourselves or in the community. There are a lot of good social social events planned by Sonia Parfitt and her committee - such as helping with Stratha- ven's Hallowe'en Pub Night with all the sisters in disguises, weird and wonderful. We have already had our Super-Weekend-Get-Aw ay at Sue Jansma's cottage near Hal- iburton - a wow of a success - thanks Sue! Next year's annual return is already planned! Our annual Christmas Dinner Dinner for the Five chapters of Beta Sigma Phi in Clarington is to be held at Trinity Church in early December. A Friendship Friendship Night is planned for February. February. Our Service Committee chaired by Penny Anne Davidson Davidson has been busy exploring needs in the community, to volunteer our time and funds. We are contributing to Bethes- da House, Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville and Courtice High School Scholarships, Blood Donor Clinics, Terry Fox Run amongst others. Our Ways and Means Committee Committee headed by Barb McFa- dyen has already organized a Craft and Bird Feeder sale and a Christmas Cheese Drive to augment our Treasury. You can see we are a busy group having a good time together. together. Sorority is open to anyone anyone wishing to join an interesting interesting and stimulating group of women of all ages. About 30 children entered the Halloween Costume Contest at the mall. The winners are pictured above with their prizes. In the front are: Caitlynn Vanderstarre as a scarecrow, Travis Doswell as a pirate, and Matthew Dewell as a Power Ranger. 4-H Club Visits Art Festival Photo Essay of Sicily On Display at Gallery Isola, a photographic essay on the islands of Sicily by Pickering artist, Linda Ward Selbie opens at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery on Thursday, Thursday, 7 November. The public is invited to meet the artist 'at a gallery reception reception on Thursday, 7 November, November, 7-9 p.m. The exhibition comprises twenty reprograph images from colour photographs transferred transferred to digital files and output output on the new Xerox large format format printer. The process is similar to four-colour off-set printing. "I use the process in order to achieve size," Ward Selbie emphasizes.
