Thursday, November 14, they hosted the Spirit Sports team from Oshawa. Ashleigh Parks, our new addition, proved to be a real trouper by stepping in between the pipes on her first night out. With having to face over 30 shots, she certainly had her work cut out for her. Once again, the girls could not muster up enough offense against the Oshawa team which kept our shot to a minimum. minimum. Final score Clarington 0, Oshawa 7. Friday night the girls travelled travelled to Barrie for a much anticipated anticipated tournament. With spirits high we scored our first goal of the season!! On a nice passing play from Janice Kelly and Stephanie Wood our heroine Danielle Jordan scored, giving us a 1-0 lead. We added another goal, scored with great determination, determination, from Susan Wiltshire assisted assisted by Danielle Jordan. With five minutes left in the third period, and leading 2-1, the girls from the North York team managed a surprise comeback and won 4-2. Game two showed the effects of late night festivities. We came out to play but burnt out early in the game. Our offense of Laura Stacey, Rhonda Procknow, Katie Knapp and defense Ashley Ootjers tried their hardest but were unsuccessful unsuccessful against the more experienced experienced Coldwater team. With time to reflect before game three, the girls all arrived at the arena ready to give their personal best. With the hometown hometown team scoring midway through the first period, it was back and forth action for the remainder of the game. Our defense defense of Simone Frenette, Candace Candace Allan, Kiersten Allore and Natasha Petrovic (playing with a sprained ankle) really showed their skills at keeping the Barrie team at bay. Final score Clarington 0, Barrie 1. Although only one player from each game was chosen as player of the game, each girl contributed to the team effort. Ashley Weir, Amanda Fice and Stephanie Wood were awarded Barrie Sharkfest sweatshirts respectively. ill ... . z- : >Tv;vtv,' A - , ? ws Santa Suggests... This seemed to fire the Orono squad up as they then went on to fire the next three goals to take a 3-2 lead into, the second period. Jonathan Beecroft would score the only goal of the second period period to tie the game with Dwayne Forde and Derek Crabb drawing the assists. The third period saw both teams with plenty of chances but Kyle Searle would score what would prove to be the winning goal at 4:57 of the period as he deflected a point shot from Justin Justin Valckx. Orono pressed hard but Kenneth Lake was able to secure the victory for Newcastle Newcastle as Paul Highgate blocked an attempted Orono pass in the neutral zone which allowed Lake to break in all alone on the Orono goalie and he made no mistake as he picked the comer to make the final score 5-3 and give the Newcastle squad the opportunity to play for the "A" championship. Shawn Caissie and Ryan Clarke shared the goaltending duties for Newcastle." The final game of the day was also against another familiar familiar opponent as Newcastle squared off against the squad from Minden. The Minden team started the game strong and by the mid point of the first period they were up by two goals. The second Minden goal seemed to give the Newcastle Newcastle team a wake up call and before the period was over Tanner Millson would cut the lead in half as he converted a pass from Kyle Searle. Newcastle Newcastle would score the only goal of the second period as Dwayne Forde scored on a break away with Ryan Sutton getting the assist. The Newcastle Newcastle defense of Peter Heerschop, Justin Valckx and Ryan Sutton slammed the door in the third period on the Minden team and Shawn Caissie made a couple of outstanding saves to keep the Minden team off the score- board. Newcastle worked hard to score the go ahead goal and they had several chances but the Minden goalie turned them away. Late in the third period Nathan Wright had a great opportunity opportunity to score but the Minden Minden goalie made a great save to send the game into overtime. Minden controlled the faceoff and set up in the Newcastle zone but Dwayne Forde was able to block a point shot and the puck bounced into the neutral zone where Dwayne was able to use his exceptional exceptional speed to break away from the Minden defenseman and go in all alone on the Minden Minden goalie. Chemicals used for ice and snow removal and dust control can collect on the underbody. If these are not removed, accelerated corrosion corrosion (rust) can occur on the underbody parts such as fuel lines, frame, floor pan, and exhaust system even though they have corrosion corrosion protection. At least every spring, flush these materials from the underbody with plain water. Clean any areas where salt, müd and other debris can collect. Dirt packed in closed areas of the frame should be loosened loosened before being flushed. Your dealer or an underbody underbody vehicle washing system system can do this for you.
