10 The Clarington/Courtice Independent, Bowman ville, Saturday, December 14, 1996 Christmas Festival Held at Trillium Morgan Horse Farm On the afternoon of December December 7, the stable doors swung wide to welcome an estimated 600 guests to Trillium Morgan Horse Farm's Seventh Annual Christmas Festival in Orono. The annual Christmas spectacular spectacular seemed a touch more vibrant than in past festivals. Even old Saint Nick found time to visit the farm. Twenty-four liters of hot apple apple cider was served to the somewhat chilled visitors, and hundreds of decorated candy canes were distributed to the children. Mid way through the festivities, festivities, owners and hosts Bob and Cathy Sampson harnessed the farm's leading sire, the Morgan Morgan stallion, Trillium Samson. He was hitched to a 1907 Baynes carriage (a Cadillac in its day) which was adorned with decorations and jingle bells. This year's stall decorating contestants provided the public with a wide variety of themes and designs to choose from. In all, twenty stalls were entered in the competition. Congratulations to Dave Stani- forth of Orono on Jus winning entry, "Winter Woodland". Mr. Staniforth's real life entry was a tasteful display of his taxidermy taxidermy skills, portraying the animals animals of the forest carrying the bright garland to decorate their woodland home. It was one of the most unusual and intriguing intriguing designs ever entered in the contest. The Reserve title in this category went to Bow- manville resident, Ruth Gray and her entry "The Animals' Christmas Eve". Ms. Gray also captured the Championship for "Most Beautiful Design."
