Stan and Kay's daughter, Beth Marklc, was a participant. All enjoyed supper at Beth and Wayne Markle's home after the concert. Their son, Andrew, was home from Burlington, Vermont. Daughter Alyssa and husband, Rob, Whitby and Wayne's mother, Helen Marklc, of Oshawa, were also guests. Mrs. Kathleen Kimball and daughter Joan and Lena Graham Graham enjoyed Christmas dinner on Wednesday with the Jack Kimball family, Port Granby. Sympathy is extended to relatives relatives and friends of Jake Dost whose funeral was held on Tuesday. Condolences also to Betty and Dave Adams in the death of her sister. Christmas at St. George's On Saturday, December 21st a group of young people and adults enjoyed an informal carol carol sing with the residents of the Newcastle Health Care Centre. The annual Service of Lessons Lessons and Carols was on Sunday Sunday evening December 22nd. The choir, under the leadership of organist and choir director Ron Tidy, sang six beautiful anthems and the Congregation joined them in singing the old familiar carols. Christmas Eve celebrations began this year with a children's children's service at 5 o'clock. The church was filled with grandparents, grandparents, parents and excited little little ones as we lit the final candles candles on the Advent wreath and the children placed the figures in the creche. Arnold Mostcrt led the singing on guitar and organ. The traditional 11 o'clock communion service welcomed Christmas with joyful singing ringing out into the frosty midnight midnight air. On December 25th at 10 a.m. we greeted Christmas Day with more carols and a communion service for the "morning people". people". As a prelude to the service, piano pupils of Phyllis Dewcll played Christmas music. The evening began with the lighting of the Advent wreath and the final Christ candle and continued with carols and the Christmas communion service. Readers were Muriel Coates, Elizabeth Dewcll, James Breech, Will Lofgrcn and Ian Dewcll. Christmas flowers were given in memory of John Breen by Peggy Breen and Katherine and Harry Leek, Anne and Bob Hay, and Timothy Hay by their family. United Church On Advent IV Sunday at Newcastle United Church, lighting the Advent wreath candles were Steven and Patti Selby and sons Christopher and Mitchell. Happy Happy New Year. Emily Broome spent a weekend weekend with her grandparents Lloyd and Marion Broome. Lloyd and Marion Broome had their family all home for Christmas on Sunday, December December 22. Tom and Shirley Cook and family, are With Shirley's mother Doreen Westlake for Christmas. The church service Sunday morning had the choirs of Ty- rone-Eldad and the S.D.A. hand bell choir for our service. Lois Yellowlees and grandson Tim Dair were greeters and Bruce Taylor and Reverend Munro were our readers. The service opened with Carol singing and hymn "O Come All Ye Faithful" and the prayer of approach. Reverend Munro lit the forth Advent candle. We were favoured with music by our choirs. Hymn 401 closed the service. Don't forget our Annual Con gregational meeting at Eldad on February 2nd at 7:30 p.m. and Hampton February 9th, following the morning service. We had another nice Christmas Christmas Eve Service this year at Hampton. Hampton Church had charge of the service. My son-in-law and daughter took my wife and I to see the Christmas Christmas lights. They're lovely! Thanks. On Christmas Day Lois and Harvey Yellowlees had the family all home for dinner and supper except Janice and family- family- Mr. Paul Watson was also with us. We had a lovely day. Many Christmas family parties around on Christmas day. My snow crew worked twice during Boxing Day. No pay, no shopping. A left over supper supper and cards. Thanks, folks.
