Girl Guides of Canada - Guides du Canada celebrate Guide-Scout week February 16-23rd. Enniskillen and Hampton units are conducting worship services on Sunday, February 23. An invitation is extended to you to attend these special services of praise conducted by the Guide and Scout units. The interdenominational services services will take place, at Enniskillen United Church at 9:30 a.m. and Hampton United Church at 11:00 a.m. Darlington District Units have been active with program, program, crafts, service and camping. The girls and Guiders have been having a lot of fun times. The Enniskillen Sparks enjoyed a Teddy Bear Tea Party. The Hampton Guides prepared, set-up and served at the Annual Beaver's Valentine Tea for Grandparents and Seniors. Refreshments were prepared and served to those attending the Enniskillen Public School Reunion by the Enniskillen Guides. The Bonaventure Rangers travelled to the CFTO television television studios in Scarborough to watch the. taping of the Dini Petty show. The Rangers were able to meet Mrs. Petty and see the various aspects of the production. Enniskillen-Hampton Pathfinders have again assisted assisted Dr. and Mrs. Rowsell to pack medical supplies for the medical relief work they conduct conduct in Central America. The Pathfinder's winter camp was held at Camp Samac and already they are making preparations for their spring and summer camps. Throughout the year, the Pathfinders serve refreshments refreshments at the Bowmanville Blood Donor Clinic and each fall, members are present helping at the Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research. The Enniskillen Brownies were fascinated when 8 year old Jennifer Baron shared her interest in sign language. The Brownies learned to sign a song in sign language. Another guest, Reg Sullivan, and his seeing eye dog "Dallas" paid a visit. Darlington District members, members, along with their sister members of Blue Heron Division, save used postage stamps which are given to the Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind. They are sold and the funds generated are used towards the cost of training the Guide Dogs. New pen pals - Girl Scouts in Illinois are a part of the Hampton Brownies. The Brownies made a video introducing'themselves introducing'themselves to send to their Scouting Friends. Tray favours' for the Meals on Wheels have brightened up mealtime for many seniors locally that the Brownies made. A special Valentine Craft was created by the Hampton Sparks. They continue to enjoy crafts, games, songs and sharing activities at their weekly meetings. A new Darlington District crest has been designed by Enniskillen Guider Linda Hann. Darlington District is hoping hoping to have the crest available in the near future. To make this possible, we are saving A & P, Dominion and Basic food store cash register tapes. We will be collecting the tapes until October. Cookie orders for the famous vanilla and chocolate cream sandwich cookies are now being taken from any unit in our area. The cookie sales are Guidings major fund raiser for the year. In February, due to weather weather conditions, the girls don't always get to ask you personally personally if you'd like to order cookies. Don't miss out! Place your order today with one of your little Guiding friends. Delivery of the Girl Guide cookies is mid April. Maple Grove W.l. The February meeting of the Maple Grove W.L was held in the G.E. Hall on the 10th at 6:30 p.m. in the form of a Pot Luck supper featuring featuring food that might have been served 100 years ago. This month we commemorate commemorate 100 years of W.l. work in Ontario. Several candles were lit followed by singing "the Ode" and Institute Grace. A variety of foods featuring featuring beef stew, shepherd's pie, meat balls, baked beans, cornmeal casserole etc. as well as a variety of desserts and Anniversary Cakè and ice cream was enjoyed by all. Following the meal the President Mrs. T. Kelsey, gave a reading entitled "Succeeding". The Roll Call was "What have I accomplished with a Women's Institute life skill?" Minutes were read, Treasurer's report given and correspondence read. Mrs. A. Noordstra gave the Good Neighbours report. Collection and Pennies for Friendship were received. Shirley Bubar. agreed to look after work of Nominating Committee. The next 4-H Club will be a "Sports Club". It was agreed that our Summer outing would be a trip to Keene Conservation Area on June 7th. The Motto was "Celebrate the past - Challenge the future". Mrs. Found commented commented on the Motto and said the original purpose of the W.l. was to educate the rural women. The farmers had their own group and Adelaide Hoodless felt that the women needed their own group. - A meeting was called and 101 women and 1 man attended.
