Revenue Canada Sponsors Volunteer Income Tax Program It's no secret that a number of Canadians have trouble completing income tax forms - but some people have a harder time than others. So Revenue Canada sponsors the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program, with volunteers from all walks of life. For 25 years, volunteers have been helping • clients understand their income tax obligations and claim their tax credits. In 1996 alone, almost 15,000 volunteers helped more than 250,000 people across Canada! We are hoping to see these numbers increase in 1997. Training Sessions Revenue Canada is currently currently holding volunteer training sessions. If your community organization would like to participate, Revenue Canada will even bring the training session to your group. The fax number is (416) 954-5787. 4-H Drama Club Studies Mime On February 17th the Tyrone 4-H Drama Club gathered for its 3rd meeting in the Sunday School room. Our president brought the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. First, we played a short game to see how well we could remember a number of things in a time limit. Once our time was up, we talked about "A Baker's Dozen Ideas for writing a. play". When we finished going over each one, we played a mime game. We all tried to walk like a certain animal and had to stop at the same time without falling. We discussed going to a dress rehearsal for the play "Oliver" that will be shown at Bowmanville Senior Public School on February 26, 27 and 28. The president adjourned the meeting at 9:00 p.m. By: Meredith Real Toastmasters Prepare lor Contest Excitement filled the air as Bowmanville Toastmasters enjoyed the International and Evaluation, contests, chaired by Toastmaster Nancy Barnes at their February 18, 1997 meeting. Toastmaster Denise Marek will carry the Club's banner forward forward to the Area Contest. Toastmaster Egon Pederson, a member of Oshawa Toastmasters, provided an informative talk on nutrition for the Evaluation Contest. Participants in this contest were Toastmaster Irene Konzelmann and Toastmaster Connie Nelson, who will represent our club at the Area level. Bowmanville Toastmasters are hosting the Area contest on March 11, 1997 with participants from Lindsay and Peterborough joining those from Bowmanville. Volunteers Needed for Mother's Day Walk The Breast Cancer Society of Canada is soliciting soliciting volunteers to assist in the planning and organization organization of the First Annual Breast Cancer Society of Canada Mother's Day Walk. This event will be held at Rotary Park in Ajax on Mother's Day (Sunday, May 11, 1997). March Break Madness is a two week camp designed to appeal to a variety of tastes for children 6 to 13. The drop off site for week one is at the Museum located on Scugog Island.
