Cynthia Mearns and Mayor Diane Hamre examined a number of banned books the library has on its shelves during the last few days of "Freedom to Read Week." As part of the Fair Municipal Finance Act, the government is introducing a new reduced property tax rate for eligible farm land and outbuildings to replace current' current' farm tax rebates. This measure amounts to a $171 million tax cut and responds to concerns expressed by farmers for many years.
