THURSDAY, JUNE 19 FABULOUS 50'S FESTIVAL --The Bowmanville Business Centre opens its popular Fabulous 50's Festival and Sidewalk Sale on Thursday, June 19th. The event continues June 20 and 21. MEET LOCAL AUTHOR -- Bowmanville historian Bill Humber will be signing copies of his latest book "Bowmanville: A Small Town at the Edge" in front of The Book Studio on King Street W. during the Fabulous Fifties Sidewalk Sale to be held June 19,20 and 21. Mr. Humber is the author of nine books, many of them on the subject of baseball. CONCERT IN THE PARK -- Swing along to the big band sounds of "Swing Shift" at Rotary Park on June 19th starting at 7 p.m. Thirteen musicians and. vocalists will perform waltzes, tangos and such melodies as Glenn Miller's "In the Mood" and others including "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes." The Swing Shift band is the second in a series of outdoor summer concerts to be held Thursday evenings during June, July and August. Admission is free. Newcastle Arena to help purchase a new sound system and a score clock. A teen dance kicks off the evening from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and then the adult dance follows from 8:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Teen tickets are $5 can be bought at the door. SENIORS' TEA AND BAKE SALE -- The 4T club in Orono welcomes the public to a Tea and Bake sale at the Durham Seniors' Complex at 200 Station Street on June 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. The event includes refreshments, a "new-to-you" table, plants and draws. Funds raised will be put toward the purchase of new drapes.
